What do you use to press the button so the controller will connect?

A small wooden stick or a smooth short chopstick will do this job.

Any thin rod / stick / pin ....

Please note method of use :

Page 24 of Standard manual :

1. Power on AC and press the LInk Button ... LED will flash RED indicating ready to Link.
2. Power on Controller and turn Gimbal dial to full left, while holding dial - toggle S2 switch 3x back and forth quickly, you will then hear a beeping sound.
3. When  the beeping sound stops and AC LED turns GREEN - link has been successful.
