the temp at ground level was -10c first flight was fine
I spoke to a hill walker and he told me it would be -15c
on the hill tops so I put the bird up the hill & the bird started
going into atti I had no problem flying in atti and the
gimbal took a wobbler a few times like it was drunk lol
http://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/ZMMBVFUWUXG0U4ENFU3F/

I did a quick recharge in the car
but the winds had picked up slightly
on the third flight still atti issues
http://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/WB1ET490RMV4SUUQDJII/

nothing to worry about though I got the bird back fine

I try not to fly with extreme temperatures, in my area it is extreme both in winter and in summer .. there is no middle term if I try to take care of this aspect.

the truth is that it is difficult to find the right times to fly safely

I've flown my P4 in temperatures as low as -35C  (31 below zero F)

I haven't experienced any adverse affects.  Even the flight times weren't  diminished.

I experienced this in extreme cold weather as well almost resulting in a crash, so my new cold weather policy is to get up in the air quickly,  get my shots and get back down as fast as i can......

No flying under -10. Battery flight time shortened by cold temps. No wonder you had issues. Advantages of practice flight with manual only - invaluable. Been out myself today but only Zero degree's. Cold enough mind.

I thought the P4A could take -15c max?
after two flights I let the bird heat up in the car
while I charged up the batteries. it was a crisp
morning and didn't feel that cold but once
the wind picked up oft frozen fish fingers lol

It's my personal safety temp. Any colder and you never know what the Lipo batteries will do. Plus, any colder and like you said, fish fingers to control your bird and not good. Cut your photo/change stuff finger on your gloves so it folds back and you can stay out longer.......Almost had 2nd thought's this afternoon as it felt colder than zero with a little breeze.

Regularly fly my P3 in -10C and lower ..... never any problems other than touch screens not liking it. I have special gloves with tips - still touch screens get unreliable in the cold.

Only LiPo's I have seen reduce in the cold are in my EDF"s where I am really hammering them hard. In the cold - the model visibly flies slower and you hear the difference.

Here's an example to put a smile on your face ...

Yep .... crazy !!

Even more crazy is this .... controlling a small machine at insane speed .... with cold hands !

For anyone interested - I then went on to modify another Parkjet to twin heli motors and calculated speed capable of 330kph ... unfortunately we couldn't get it to launch and its a project still pending years later !!

OK ... here's our club enjoying winter flying ...

I've been flying in the -5 to -15 C range with Phantom 4 and i'm having issues with the GO app.  My video feed of the live view goes to about half the normal size and the image is upside down.  I'm also noticing more "herky jerky-ness" in the flights.  It appears from watching the screen that either the drone itself or the gimbal will just tip to the side and correct itself very quickly.

I'm flying for realtors so I'm watching the video for quality and the drone for hazards (trees, powerlines, buildings, etc.).  I haven't been able to catch it in the act as there are a lot of things going on at once and it happens intermittently.

This all started happening since the temperature drop for winter.  Might be coincidence but I thought I'd throw it out here to see if anyone else is seeing anything like this.

one if my m8s was having FW issues with his p4 until he put the beta FW in
now its back to normal but iv never heard of the screen going half the size
or inverted JustAskJask? I am sure his camera kept looking at the leg of his P4

Nice  shots, looks like you lost Sat connection for whatever reason, wonder why that was, you had clear skies

Also, it says the P4 should be flown 0 or above, well, it says the operating temps is 0 or above

I've been pretty diligent on firmware but I'm going to try refreshing everything.
It did it again yesterday and I took a pic.  It may not be easy to tell as I didn't have the horizon in the view but the image is upside down.

Toorboy-
I always check with the field experts first!!  That's probably my next stop as I can't find anything on this one.  I was hoping a DJI Moderator was going to check in but I guess they're not in to this thread.

Thanks everyone.  I posted another thread and we're going through the "do you have the latest firmware?  Did you reinstall?" questioning with a moderator.  we'll see where it goes!

When they tell me to not fly in that cold, I'm pointing them here as further proof!!
