Very Rare Snow Day

Here in South Louisiana any snow is a major event, so 5-6 inches of snow on the ground is a once in a life time occurance. Even my 91 year old neighbor said he's never seen anything like it in his entire life.  So once the snow stopped falling, I took to the sky with our Inspire 2 and the X5s and captured parts of my hometown.  In a single day, the video reached over 8500 people and was shared over 250 times.  Now we've just received an email from the local news saying that it will air during their broadcast tonight.
I also posted 5 stills shots and for one of them, I've lost count of how many times it was shared and now I'm getting request for framed prints.

Here is the link to the video and one of the stills I shot with the Inspire 2 /x5s.

Wow that is amazing! I live in SC and I was so disappointed that the town right next to us got snow but all we got was rain. Maybe later in the season we will get some I can shoot. Hope this does great things for your business though!

No thanks, lol! I like the way we get snow.  Once every few years.  Everything closes and all the kids and adults end up in the yard trying to make snowmen and have snowball fights.  Then the next day, everything is back to normal and you have to cut your grass.

Yeah ... Well, beautiful imagery aside, tell us please what's really happening? I mean, c'mon: 5000 views on Vimeo and not a single "like" or comment? What did you do? I'm publishing landscape videos there which are not particularly better or more attractive than yours but nothing National Geographic channel will be ashamed to broadcast (in terms of quality). And I'm happy to be noticed by a dozen of incidental viewers and to receive 2 or 3 comments or "likes". Total.

So, what's your trick ?

I shared the link on Facebook and it took off from there.  Facebook and Vimeo's stats don't seem to talk to each other very well.  They never have the same numbers.  As for as likes, since most people are watching the video on Facebook, that's where all the likes and shares are located.  I wish I could find a way to tally up all the likes, but it's been shared on 281 pages so far.

Here are the numbers this morning.

Ah, that's the trick! I must finally study this Facebook phenomenon since I don't really understand it's mechanics and purpose. Thank you for the tip.

Snowing here every other day in Rhode Island. Putting a kink into my flying.

Wish I would have my Mavic when it snowed in Beaumont! Just ordered it so I am a newbie. Impressive video. What did the VRS media group mean? How do you edit your shots. Thanks!

VRS stands for Video Reflections Studio.  The company has been is business for over 30 years.  A few years ago we stopped doing weddings to concentrate more on our corporate/commercial side.  We changed the name to break away from the wedding image the old name had.
I edit in Premiere Pro.
