Another person(s) with apparent lack of judgement taking to the sky who clearly hasn't read any manual or checked on rules/regulations.  This post and some of the responses scare me, this is why so many responsible drone enthusiasts are being forced out due to regulations.

I agree, in Australia the max height is 120m Why do you have to fly higher? Set your max height in the Go app and stay legal... Don't spoil it for the rest of us. I need the drone to help with my work on a farm and don't need more pen pushers telling me how to fly....

Many users have no idea where they can and can’t legally fly the drone.

Airport spokesmen commented to news outlets today that the airport was closed from about 7:20 am – 8:20 am local time, after a pilot reported seeing a drone.  German federal police used a helicopter to search for the drone and operator.  Police continue to investigate.

The ceiling level is 6000m. Without any modification of firmware and drone you can get 500 m. But you can go higher if you break the system!

About 6000 meters MSL. 400 feet AGL in the US (legally speaking)  So, what if you are traveling to the Rockies? Well, you would be restricted by law to 400 feet AGL or “above ground level.”  However, on a mountain you could be thousands of feet above MSL or “mean sea level” at your home position.  According to DJI, a phantom 4 has a ceiling of about 6000 m which translates to a bit over 19,000 feet.  Keep in mind that as you approach the rated ceiling of the drone, performance will diminish. You will have less lift, speed, and maneuverability. If you push beyond the flight envelope, in all probability the drone will begin to tumble. This is generally considered an unrecoverable situation. Proceed with caution

As high as you are safe to fly. Personally though, the higher you go, the stronger the wind = less flight time and bigger risk of running out of battery power before you land. If it's a case of - Must get that shot - then up there and down again. It's not worth it most of the time unless the footage or stills are worth the risk and effort. After flying DJI for a number of years now, this is one of the killer questions if not the question asked by many. As time goes by, the laws and rules are getting more and more stringent. If you get caught though.....Is it worth a hefty fine or imprisonment in some cases.

I live in a valley surrounded my high mountains. So I drove up to a place that is more than 750m above my valley and flew to max height giving the drone over 1200m to where my village is.

I did not hack my drone just used the advantage of flying from a place with greater altitude at launch.

"I like to go to hills and mountains and take off from there and get legal super high drone flights. There is a hill near my house that is 800 feet above the base of the hill so I can get views of the city from 1200 feet in the air! I am going to a mountain that is 30 minutes from my house that is 3800 feet tall so I'll be able to fly up 4100 feet! I once flew my phantom 3 standard up 5600 feet in the Cascades, but the wind almost took it away."

Bit hard to see the sea from where I am lol

DJI Drones have a max ceiling capability of 6000m.  Just need to launch at 5500m to get there
