Seems like DJI have developed a new device to track drones. A very interesting read for those for flaunt the laws.

Cerntainly interesting the privacy issues. Your email address available to the operator. Next someone will market a VPN for your drone!

Nothing to worry about as long as you're not breaking the law? maybe, maybe not!

I have thought about that, whilst I have been extremely careful not to break law, I am sure I might have. I guess those sorts of devices are only for the obvious places like Millary or airports, but it is a reminder to do the right thing

Ideally, Aeroscope should be able to send a message to the rouge controller/app, so that the controller would start beeping, while the app would display a message along the lines of "You are flying in restricted airspace. Please return home and land immediately." With an option to trigger an immediate RTH or forced landing if the Aeroscope operator deems the situation dangerous.

For 99% of the people such a message popping up in the app will be the equivalent of the "friendly email" that Nick Martino speaks about in the article, as most break rules by negligence and not by by evil intent.

Interesting video.
There is a reason why Aeroscope was developed. There are always a few bad apples that spoil the barrel. In our case a few bad pilots who think the rules don't apply to them .

Only drones that receive or send some sort of telemetry have anything to fear from this sort of tech.

Spread Spectrum (using pseudo random freq hoping) with bursts of encrypted data would make detection and jamming very difficult.
