How do i unlock the aircraft? I've done the required firmware update and I am not in a restricted zone. When I slide the slider in the app to take off it tells me "failed takoff" and "aircraft locked".

Have you activated your Spark as described in the quick start guide and user manual? And have you done the firmware update for all your batteries as well?

This is something new ...Are you saying it is displaying Aircraft locked on the mobile screen  ! !

Are you logged into your DJI account with the GO4 app?
If yes, try to reinstall the firmware from the spark with DJI Assistant
If that doesnt help, reinstall the DJI Go 4 app and log in again

I was just having the same issue. I had a really hard time updating to the latest firmware, but eventually I managed to get it working. After updating, it said "Aircraft is locked" when I tried to takeoff. I clicked the settings bar on the right, and scrolled down to "About". Under firmware, even though I had already updated, it was still listed as the previous version. I selected "Check for updates" and it finally realized that it had been updated. After that, the "Aircraft is locked" message disappeared, and I was able to takeoff.

Return to the Factory defaults with Assistant 2
and then install the latest firmware.

My procedure is as follows,

1.Aircraft power on
2.DJI Assistant2 Start
3.Connet PC and Aircraft by USB Cable
4.Assistant: click "SPARK"
5.Assistant: click "Firmware Update"
6.Assistant: click "Restore Factory defaults" ... wait.
7.Assistant: click "latest version Firmware"  ... wait .
  In March 2018,latest version is "01.00.0900"
8.DJI Assistant2 Close
9.Disconnect USB cable
10.Aircraft Restart
11.DJI GO4 Start
12.Link Aircraft and Smartphone by wifi
13.Check Aircraft Unlock!

DJI support said that i need to send aircraft and checking cost was more than $80.

Aircraft is lock means that dji force you to update FW

I had a similar problem: new DJI Spark, firmware updated. "Aicraft Locked".
What helped in my case was using an OTG cable to connect my phone to the remote controller.
I guess the problem was that when the phone connected with the RC's WIFI, it lost it's internet connection. With OTG cable it can connect to the RC and to the internet at the same time.
Then WIFI works (sometimes well sometimes not, but the aircraft can start)
Hope it helps.

It can happen, also when are in use one not uploaded battery firmware: if you have 2 batteries, you have to upgrade both of them.

you could google with 'DJI Spark locked'
And try the solution from the video, which was helpful to some after 1. of September!

Just do not panic.
All you need to do is to update all the issues mentioned in the about screen.
Keep the internet active while you start the Spark.

I am pretty sure i have updated all the things and i am using the latest firmware now.

Can someone help me? Maybe with a PN ;) I have exactly the same problem...

Hey guys, check out this link from judgemstr. Delete the latest version of DJI Go 4 and download the one from the link. IT works for me and my spark is able to zip off to the sky now!!

Just bought Spark today, using Android phone.. having same issue of locked aircraft.. Will try using older version.

Also just bought a new Spark - same issue. This is my first experience with DJI and they are so much more awful than I expected. This is the least user friendly experience I've ever had with a tech device. There's no explanation. Nothing. I finally figured out how to clear a No Fly Zone warning that prevented me from flying (apparently the app now assumes by default you are in a NFZ, and you have to establish good GPS for a period of time before it will clear the NFZ warning). Now I get Aircraft Locked warning without explanation. My firmware is absolutely up to date. God dangit China...

I've had the drone for 2 days and have yet to get it to fly. Insane.

After uninstalling latest version and installing  P4 4.1.15 worked. Now able to fly without issue. I also heard ppl complaining about latest version creating issue with using OTG cable with controller.

Just had this same issue. Works fine with the battery I had installed in the Spark while doing all the updates and I switched when I went to fly so I had a fresh one in. Sure enough, aircraft locked. I switched the batteries back and it works fine. Not quite sure how to go about updating the second battery.
