Guys,

why can't I do a rollback from the  V1.4.0100 Mavic Pro firmware? I blindly installed all updates as updates are generally a good thing and now it appears rollback isn't supported with newest release?? The .18 Go4 App release almost made my Mavic crash because it froze while flying in "intelligent" mode and I had to press the STOP button on the remote. After rollback to 4.15 I'm having completely stable experience with the App. Give us the option to use older airscraft firmware back DJI! Might have to send the drone back because of this new firmware thing.
Any way to revert back to older firmware version of the Mavic??

Let's hope the guys at DUMlodore will figure it out eventually. I don't like DJIs approach at all. Somehow I imagined them as the cool company producing amazing tools for filmmakers and now they are playing drone police all over. I understand no fly zones and other restrictions but the choice to fly or not to fly should always lie with the operator. So many extra steps to unlock legal flights even with permission and still height ceiling...

If transmission issues, older devices no longer working, gimbal issues and a ton of new restrictions are considered new “features “ then yes upgrade...

Does anyone on here have links to the older firmware ? I just got my mavic back from the mothership and am having problems with the firmware 18. It automatically updated which I have now turned the auto update off.

You can't rollback from 1.4.0100. The file structure is different.

honestly i think we can downgrade as it is right now but would require hooking into the individual MCUs on the pcbs with an ISP, which should be possible if they are all atmel chips as atmel puts the programming software for their MCUs that arn't opensource out to the public on their website (flip, atmel programmer, etc)
as like supervisor said the file structure is different which would indicate to me that they may have changed how the application blocks are arranged on the on-chip flash which may change where the bootloader needs to point to for the firmware to boot properly.

all of which you can change if you hook up an ISP and flash the chip with an old firmware image from the dump of another chip that had the older firmware revision.

Simple reason why can not downgrade. DJI don´t want us to mod the mavic pro.
The latest update either is firmware or DJI Go App make you loss the ability on fly in non-fly zone, loss of FCC mod ability with .DJI.configs file.

the anti rollback firmware lock has been defeated by nolimitdronez well done guys ;)

about rollback you get all you need here, at this exact moment from 1.04.010 there is no going back.. but it won't take too long  :

I can confirm that "NLD" have announced that within the next 3 days, they will update the NLD Application and give you the ability to rollback from the latest firmware.   YES the Anti-Rollback firmware has been defeated.

In addition there will be some more exciting changes to the application that will ensure "Anti-rollback" doesn't happen again ;-)

I know NLD is subscription based, but please bear in mind that these guys have worked relentlessly to give us what we have now, and once subscribed its free updates.... Its just a small way of giving back to these guys who have spent 1000's of hours of their own time to give us these fixes.

I am in no way affiliated with NLD or their site.   I am simply an MP user who objects to being told what I can and cannot do with equipment I spent a small fortune on.

just to clarify NLD is NOT subscription based, you buy a copy of the software and then all future updates are free (see here: NLD FAQ )

DJI don´t need lock the downgrade from firmware. Drone owner have the right to choice the firmware.  The drone owner have to responsible on his/her behavior.

Wow great news! Thank you so much for participating in this thread, I absolutely agree that the choice of firmware should be on the user end. Pilot is responsible for safe operation and DJI is responsible for the systems working properly. If you choose to modify flight parameters, don't go too crazy and stay safe guys, happy flying!
