I noticed today that the version 1.1.8 download from the P4 downloads section does not work on my desktop machine with all latest Windows 10 updates (Machine totally freezes).

But on trying V1.1.6 from Mavic or P4 Pro downloads section all seems to work well.

Something to consider perhaps if having problems getting Assistant 2 running.

I saw they listed that for the P4 Std. in its Downloads section too (Nov. 14, 2017).  Given your issues with Windows and Assistant 2 v1.1.8 I think I better pass until more reports come in.  1.1.6 worked well for me too on P4 Std. and Inspire 2.

Only thing I saw in the Release Notes for it was "Phantom 4 - 1. Fixed bugs on the Calibration page." which might be for some OAS issues and maybe unstable low altitude flights?

I have windows 10 64bits and neither version works!
I had to use the app to upgrade to the beta version!
I think DJI should review this Assistant 2 problem!

I downloaded the file from that link.

This morning I had V1.1.6 installed which was downloaded from the P4 Pro download section. And it was working as expected.

I then reinstalled the V1.1.8 version without removing the V1.1.6, the installation completes but when run V1.1.8 causes my machine to freeze completely, the only way to reset is to power it down.

After powering up again I reinstalled the V1.1.6 version, once again without removing the installed V1.1.8. And now when I run Assistant 2 V1.1.6 all works as expected again.

So some of the files being installed in V1.1.8 are not working correctly.
When V1.1.8 was installed and I checked the installed applications on my machine it shows as DJI Assistant 2 V1.1.7 ?. This may help to pinpoint the problem.

One has to wonder how much testing DJI could possibly have done in order to have released new software which gets flagged by what is probably the most common anti-virus system on the planet. It might go a long way to explaining the level of testing that went into the P4 firmware which was released six month ago.

I've checked my DJI files using latest McAfee and nothing flagged up. Also targeted that specific DLL and nothing to report.

Hi all. This is odd - I'm not having this issue. I downloaded v1.1.8 when it was first mentioned in a post early December. Uninstalled v1.1.6 (I Always uninstall the previous version first), and installed V1.1.8 using my usual process these days - with Windows Driver Signature Enforcement disabled.

The app ran, but I had the issue reported by  others where Assistant 2 would download  the firmware but get stuck when commencing to transmit it to the craft. I worked around it then by updating via the DJI GO app instead. But the app didn't hang on start-up, as reported here.

But on Christmas Day, DJI released the latest firmware for the P4P, so ever-hopeful me was quick to the PC with my P4P. Started up Assistant 2 and, after numerous download attempts failing (no doubt the DJI server was Very busy that day), the firmware installed OK i.e. no Transmit issues.  So what's changed? Well, there was a Win 10 1709 fix update on the 20th Dec - hmmm...

Anyway, my installation of v1.1.8 is all good.

For those having issues with v1.1.8, I'd suggest a full uninstall of what's currently installed, reboot your PC with Driver Signature Enforcement disabled, and re-install v1.1.8. All I can say that it worked for me, and I hope it's as simple as that for you too.

I downloaded Assistant 2 v1.1.8 and it tripped my Windows 10-64x Defender as well (I have most current Windows 10-64 running too.).  However, I never installed it pending Aardvark's issue with it, I just had it stored in the download folder.  I also ran the download version of Windows Malicious Software Tool (Took it about 3-4 hours to run a Full scan!) and it tripped it as well.  I deleted the downloaded 1.1.8 and am re-running the Malicious Tool and Defender again.  Something isn't right someplace with the download alone and DJI should have noticed that on the install.

1.1.6 still works perfectly, so I'll stick to that version, which has never had a single problem updating the firmware of the P4P, Mavic and SparkThis is on a windows 10, 64 bit, i7-6770HQ

It seems that your default language is Germany. Please click the Globe icon on the right bottom corner to change the language, you will see the V1.1.8.

That seems very likely, in the meantime V1.1.8 works perfectly well on my Surface Pro 3 without any problems. It might well be a glitch in my desktop (Older BIOS etc). So this failure probably doesn't mean too much without more reports.

Yes Susan, i ALWAYS do my UPDATES from the DJI Official Website.
I tried everything (desinstalling old version - 1.1.6 - installing the new one - 1.1.8 -, reinstalling, and so on) and on my last version of 64bits "Windows 10" the Windows Defender always detect a TROJAN VIRUS (Tilken.Bld) and automactillly removes the respective *.dll and this Version of Assistant2 doesn't work. Since you deleted 1.1.6 for 1.1.8, you might be able to still get 1.1.6 off their Mavic download site here:  https://www.dji.com/mavic/info#downloads

DJI might fix 1.1.8 and release it as 1.1.9 or something once they get the Trojan alarm out of 1.1.8.  They should have caught it earlier or had Microsoft see if it was fit for Windows 10 consumption.

DJI Susan,

there are more AVs which detect this library as infected.


I know this is false positive (and restored this file), but you (DJIs developers) should look deeper into the code to avoid heuristic false positive.

Digital signature (of all EXEs and DLLs) is also good practice

I downloaded Assistant 2 ver. 1.1.8 again, both the Windows exe and the zip file.  Didn't install either, but I ran Windows Defender on Full Scan with the current update and it did not detect it.  So I thought I was good to go, but I still did not install either due to other jobs.

In about 2 hours, a warning popped up in Windows 10-64x saying "Threat Detected!"  Seems it was the DJI Assistant 2 ver. 1.1.8 in both the exe and the zip both that it picked up.  Why it didn't find them on the first run I don't know as it was set to Full Scan.  However, later it must run on its own deeper and it picked up the DJI Assistant 2 ver. 1.1.8 Trojan again.

Did that right before the new scan of the download of both the zip and exe files.  I even used the downloadable Malicious Software Removal Tool from MS as well.  Something isn't right with Assistant 2 ver. 1.1.8.

Don't know why it takes Windows Defender to find it hours later than running a Full Scan does.  If it passed on yours, you maybe have enabled installation of questionable files or not locked it back up after installing some driver.

Also, I noticed I have the old Assistant 2 ver. 1.1.6 installer exe still was in the download folder and Windows Defender left it alone as okay, but it auto-quarantined both the 1.1.8 zip and exe versions.

Anyway, I'll wait until DJI figures out what they did to Assistant 2 ver.1.1.8 that causes it before I trust the installation.  Not that they've ever screwed up their software before (ahem!).  If it is  false positive, it's something they need to address anyway and take it up with MS if needed.
