There had been an Abbey on this site at Savigny (Manche) since the 12th Century AD. Cistercian monks occupied and expanded it over many years.

It was demolished during the French Revolution (1789-1792) and most of the stonework was pillaged to construct dwellings in the surrounding

countryside - notably at Savigny le Vieux, a few kilometres up the road.

    BTW, is that an old sewer in the courtyard?  But it looks somewhat modern, maybe PVC pipe at one end.  Was it a water display in a garden once?  What does the model show?

Hi Ken.  The algae-covered pond was actually the water source for the agglomeration.  On the model, in the courtyard, you can see a fountain in a circular well at 30 seconds in..  What is left today is the trace of the outflow, which can be seen winding away down the field behind the ruins at 2min33 just before the credits.  In the height of summer, when this footage was done, the source is almost dry, and the outflow is nothing more than a dry bed almost overgrown with weeds. The plastic pipe is not of the period
The model, created from original plans I believe, was done by a local craftsman.  I must have a closer look next time I'm up there - it's only 20 minutes from here by car.

     Still that was a fascinating site to visit.  They really stripped it, only the cathedral is left.  I finally figured out the ambulatory buttresses, not much else left.  More than half of the entire Abbey is gone!  Interesting, none-the-less.

Hi Pete. Thanks for your comments. Yes it was a POI operation around the statue.

As to the drone regulations, I direct your attention to the following link, where updates should appear soon..  ( it's in French, but Mr.Google should come to the rescue if you don't speak it.

The model was constructed by Louis Saint-Pois, from Saint-Clément-Rancoudray, near Mortain.  That's in the same département (county) as the Abbey ruins.

Thanks. The Cistercian order originated at Clairvaux near Dijon, and also has links to Rievaulx Abbey in N.Yorkshire

If you're referring to Rievaulx, it was certainly suppressed by Henry VIII, though I believe a significant  portion of the masonry still stands.
Savigny was destroyed much later, during the French Revolution 1789-1792
Clairvaux Abbey still stands and is in excellent condition, though it too ceased to be a monastery. Converted for a while into a prison.

Yes, the model is even aligned on the same compass direction as the original buildings, which makes it easier to visualise.
