For some reason I'm thinking that the RC will connect to the phone/tablet and the phone/tablet sends signal to AC

That would be Class 1 Bluetooth. I don't believe most phones are more than Class 2, 30 meters.

Tello can only connect to your phone directly using WiFi. The Bluetooth remote connects to your phone which will control the drone:

Tello<---WiFi--->Phone<---Bluetooth--->Remote (optional)

Juts to let you know I just got this feedback form Tello customer service  " Tello drone do not have a specific designed controller but Tello is currently compatible with the Gamesir remote controller or Apple MFi - Certified remote controllers. " hope this will help .

I've got both T1s and G3 GameSir controllers and they don't show up on the Tello app. The G3 connects to my S7 edge and I can fly the Tello fine but real joysticks would be nice.

According to DJI, you can use the Gamevice-controller, which is also featured by the Spark

Look like the T1S in NOT compatible BUT, There is a T1 that is shown being used here. I JUST received the T1S from amazon today, And I already know it won't work:/ Well It looks like the T1 is the way to go.

Well I'm not going to purchase any more accessories until somebody confirms which controllers will work with my Android S7 edge. I think it's a cool pocket drone, but flying with my phone kinda sucks. I can live with the choppy video but I'm not buying an apple device for a 100 dollar toy drone. Lets hope they support Android OS.

Bluetooth that sucks can't go too far with that.
