Are you doing this indoors, or outside away from any interference...?

You can certainly fly in ATTI mode with no GPS, but braking the aircraft, takes some diligent practice.

Is your firmware updated?

Push the s1 and s2 toggles all the way forward.

There are no GPS controls, other than if you are actually switched into ATTI mode on the RC.

Regardless of mode I should be able to start the drone correct?

Any reason why I'm not connecting to GPS?

Where is your flight mode switch on the RC directed?

Yes as long as the rear lights are flashing green

They're flashing yellowish... What does that mean?

Can you post a photo of the screen when it shows the error message?

Rapid yellow in the rear means no control signal or it's in RTH.

You should double check via your manual...

when I attempt to take off the warning message reads ( GPS NOT CONNECTED)

That error message would suggest that the GPS is ... disconnected.
It's not a message you get with a functioning GPS that isn't receiving any GPS sat signals.
Either your GPS connection has worked loose or there is a fault in the GPS receiver.
