Excellent investigation, thank you! Sounds all well researched. I was expecting some kind of new Mavic being launched soon but rather expected a Mavic 2 like others here. Now if this one will be a downsized Mavic, for me all will depend on what has been "reduced". If flighttime is significantly higher than Spark and close to current Mavic (or even more because it's lighter) plus a good gimbal and camera, I'll most likely go for it. Higher speed would be less interesting for me. We'll see.

If it’s Mavic it should, but I would need to see an improvement in the camera, it could be a P5 but adventure leads me to believe it will be a Mavic .

Yes, the term "unfolds" points to that as well. Have you read the article linked in post 5#?

Agreed - If it is new a Mavic (as the event page for 23 Jan indicates) then it must have an upgraded camera or I'll be sticking with my Platinum for sure. The Platinum is near perfect for my needs as a personal drone - only the camera really needs updating IMO but that's because I'm also use to the P4P. I've always advocated that the 'perfect drone' will be an MPP with a 1" 20MP camera with a bitrate of 100 MBPS - that will be my next major drone purchase whether it's this month or 2020.

yah probably smaller mavic, which has good camera like original mavic but body size somewhere between spark and mavic.
mavic air, less speed and flight time than mavic of course.

Very excited for this. Was potentially hanging out for a P5, but this might an even better travel companion than Sparky if it offers much better specs.

+1 looks like the Mavic Air is a reality, quite a few Sparks will be on sale, better dump mine pretty quick, so I don't loose a heap of money on it.  Once the MA is released Spark resale will plumment to  USD 200.

A small folding mavic with the Spark camera and more flight time will definitely challenge the Spark from a sales perspective. People who get into drones at this price point are always informed buyers looking for the highest tech spec, so it will sell very well.

If it was in the USD 800 range, I'd still go for the Mavic
