I was wondering if anyone has run into this issue where during the IMU calibration, the gimbal will start clicking when you stand up the Mavic Pro on its end.

This doesn't happen to anyone's Mavic during IMU calibration?

Can you post a video. Someone here can help if we had a better understanding of the issues you’re having.

Hi.  Here is a video that was taken during the IMU calibration.  If I put my finger on the gimbal, the clicking will stop.  Other than that, the Mavic seems to be doing alright.

I think it's just because the aircraft is sitting at unnatural angles during IMU calibration.  Does it make that noise in the normal start-up position?  If not you should be fine.

It only makes that noise during IMU calibration.  If I stand it up when not doing calibration, it doesn't make that noise.  I'm not sure what's the difference between doing IMU calibration and not doing it when it's standing up.

Its the gimbal motors fighting to keep the camera stationary in an abnormal position. As long as everything else is fine and you can pass to the next step of the calibration with no IMU error then this is nothing to worry about and is actually quite common in Mavic’s

I agree with the other two replies.

That's great to hear and I'm surprised not too many people bring it up since it sounds so abnormal.

One other bit of advice - it’s best to never touch the camera when the drone is turned on, especially during a calibration. The slightest pressure from your finger tip/s can knock out the calibration and even break the gimbal - it is very delicate.

My Mavic Platinum makes hardly any sound but my previous Mavic Alpine (which I had refunded for other reasons) was very noticeable. You’ll also notice it at certain angles when you calibrate the sensors using Assistant 2. It’s a good job you only have to calibrate these things a few times a year! Nothing to worry about.

You shouldn't calibrate unless the software specifically tells you to.

The only reason I calibrated was because I updated the firmware.  That's always part of my pre-cautionary procedure every time I update the firmware.

Not normally required unless the app tells you to.
