Yes I understand what you mean. I did not get a good look at the bow. The bow of a vessels would have what's called a spoon shape bow that makes it a true ice breaker. The spoon shape of the bow rides on top of the ice and the weight of the hull's ship pushing down is what breaks the ice.

I was just down the river at the Tacony Palmyra bridge on Saturday filming that same ice. Beautiful work catching the boats. I work near there sometimes at the Generating Station, and I've watched those boats chopping up the ice. I never imagined how cool it would look from above. Thank you for sharing.
