Hello, 15matjan ! I'm glad to know you're interested about this encounter. The place is near the Village of Balbina in the Amazonas State. It's a huge lake formed by an hidroletric power plant dam. Those are the coordinates: 1°54'34.97"S 59°27'39.55"O .
The visibility there is about 6ft only. At this occasion, I was away from the group at the end of the dive and I was making some videos of the sunset at the surface when I felt something pulling my fins. When I look down fo my surprise there were 2 dolphins gently biting my fins. I carefully deflated my BC and went to the bottom of the lake at about 25ft. Them, more dolphins approached, I could count 7 of them. I had one of the best encounters of my scubadiving life for about 15 mintes. I only came back to the shore because my fellows divers could be worried about me, and I was getting low on air... At this place they usually only approach us if you make slow movements and stay on small groups (wich is difficult when teaching divers). Due to the poor visibility, you can't approach them yourself, so I think I was blessed with this unique interaction! But if your goal is to film them with a drone you can find them every day in groups of 10, early in the morning and before the suset. Usually they are really close to the shore. If you decide to come someday it would be a pleasure to take you there!
Thank you very much ro_flyer,
almost a "once in a life" encounter, I wish you to have many more.
And to myself to have perhaps one...
Again a very interesting video, NG class...
I do hope to be able to visit your area in the future, thanks for the invitation, you show me the dolphins, I invite for the drink |
