Agree with others. This is a Spark Pro, not a Mavic Air. The lack of OccuSync kills it for me.

The store page says, it contains RC cable... does it mean Mavic AIR will natively support OTG?  I am wondering if they will return it to Spark then...

Don't get me wrong............i love the innovation...............they really have done an awful lot here.

The antenna stuff is class

The foldable feet and arms, love it.

I think the look suits...............a spark.

Its not a Mavic by name or design at all. Spark Air would have been bang on.

Purchased, intitial thought a little pricey but you are basically getting a smarter mavic in a spark sized package that you can fit in your pocket so its still not unreasonable. I think some people were thinking that this was going to be a 600ish dollar drone which just wouldn’t be possible with all the features.

The included accessories (including OTG) are plenty in the Fly More kit, but that price is OUCH.!

Also don't know why they chose to do Mavic Air rather than Spark Air, the connection to device is WiFi...

I bought my Fly More Spark + 2 Batteries + Case and other accessories + REFRESH for $650.

It beats the Mavic Pro though? Its a 4K 30 fps camera which can do 100 mbps bitrate compared to 60 on the Mavic Pro. It can also do 1080p at 120fps and have more sensors + a new system that can dynamicly detect obstacles while flying. New gesture modes and new camera possibilities.

I mean its a Mavic Pro killer except the range and battery life right? Or am i missing something here. Its half the price as the Mavic Pro and youre getting a better camera?

Not a Mavic killer I don't think or they would do just that.

It remains to be seen how good the camera is. I suspect that is key.

Speed is on point, battery life is probably a moot point as you just choose what model suits you best.

Given these improvements, I am looking forward to what Mavic 2 brings.

So, let them sell this, and the sales number will speak for itself, hopefully they will eventually figure out that the consumers prefer whats coming out of the camera, rather than how many you can fit in your pockets.
Or did they forget why we are flying around with these things, for fun or for recording great moments?

Upscale this to a Phantom size, ad the same sensor as the Sony A7sii, and segment it between Inspire and Phantom price wise, then youll have a winning recipe, trust me!

Well the specs are really impressive. Devin Graham have a test of it on YouTube and he give it a lot of praises. Its a drone with less range, WiFi connection, less flight time but superior camera quality it seems.... and if thats the case i can easily sacrifice flight time and range for that.

I would say that if I didn't have Mavis I would probably take the plunge on this......an excellent first drone IMO with great photo capability.

No angst being a Mavic owner as while I understand that the better photographers out there have noted the limitations of the camera, it is still more than enough for me, in fact, I probably haven't scratched the surface in its camera abilities and just enjoy flying and the view/different perspectives.

The only camera weakness that annoyed my was the 60fps one.....especially recently when I bought a cheap (ish) Yi 4K action cam and seeing the high fps capabilities of that. Its not rocket science but hey, it doesn't fly (yet).

Saying that, I am considering the little Tello to get the kids interested.

That is until Mavic 2.

Then. Rest assured. I will be in debt again

Exactly, I don't care about another sensor here and there, never have I used my Mavic and thought this is too big wish I could fit it in my pocket. However I do think, I wish the output was better, wish it had a better camera, better low light performance etc.  All of which DJI appear to think isn't important.

What a waste of time this was and just means we'll have to wait even longer for a proper uprade to the Mavic, or of course buy the Autel Evo....

I am so sad and disappointed. I was waiting for Mavic 2 launch and instead Dji gave me a baby from Mavic pro and Spark . There is nothing left to do....just to keep my money in the pocket NOT that Air and wait for Autel Evo !!!

Flip. I don't think its that bad buddy.

I don't think there is any competition for this drone at this price point. Is there?

Actually. Is there any competition for DJI currently?

I agree with your first sentiment, and it might be too early to tell if the Air camera has better low-light handling, but with a higher throughput and faster framerates you can hardly claim DJI doesn't consider camera improvement important.

Its not bad, its just that its just old tech in new wrapping, we dont want the same, we want better.
I think Dji are digging themselves into believing gesture features and proximity sensors is all that matters.
They should cram as much tech as possible into a drone thats below the 2.5kg limit for licensensed flying.

So, lets wait another year, and hope then, as of now, this tech is on a standstill level, due to the fact that there currently are no competition, but its easy to forget, that new and IMPROVED products also stimulate existing customers to buy new products, rather than keeping the ones they already, which in fact is as good as the "new" or even better...

If I hadn't got my Spark I would have bought this for my first drone, but with me living in Europe this will not make me part with my money to upgrade due to the poor range that I have encountered with wifi. .

I think I will wait until an upgraded version of the Mavic is brought out before I put my hand in my pocket and give it to DJI.

I wanted a Spark (OH has just bought one), as I believe it will be considered more acceptable/toy like than the Mavic Pro (need to get used to adding the "Pro" in this forum now!) and I'd be less worried about using it in more public areas (within the drone code rules of course), this would fit the bill even better and be great to carry around instead of the Spark - I will reserve judgement as to whether it's a Mavic Pro replacement for when I've tried it! But for me it's an "instead of the Spark", rather than "instead of the Mavic Pro" - for now!!

Fans, I would probably get the Air. I have a Mavic Pro and wouldn’t trade it for an Air. But for a first drone it would be my pick due to more sensors and gesture options. The Air definitely seems quicker to deploy. I’m not complaining about the Mavic but being able to unfold and launch very quickly is nice. If I wanted to just take a quick photo of the wife and I with the Mavic she would walk away. Takes too long. Lol.
