Just found out that https://www.dji.com/mavic-air URL no longer leads to a 404 error page.
Like the https://www.dji.com/phantom-5 link does.
Not sure if it means anything, but the IT department at least made some effort to redirect the first URL.

Yes, that is true.
But if the link did not exist, it would not redirect.
(then you would get the 404 error page).
So somebody at DJI created this redirect on purpose.

Not saying it means anything at all, but it does suggest they are working on this product name and maybe already have a product page live that they don't want 'us' to see already.
So they redirect it to another page.

The other link shows what happens if they did not do anything.
So my guess is that they already have a product page ready, but hide it with a redirect.
Just a guess of course.
But at least they have created a redirect.

Exactly, they probably have the new "micro site" all ready created

It does seem that they are preparing for it big time! The first Mavic became available to order before the end of the presentation at its launch event in Sept ‘16 and sold out within 48 hours... with most waiting until Nov to receive it. The demand for this drone will be immense IF it’s an upgrade or new design. Not long now but if you want one set up two screens - one to view the launch and one with the DJI online store open and have your credit card in hand as soon as he says it’s available online now - BOOM! Or wait 6 months and get one from an Apple store LOL

It can be a flying turd as long as  it flies and has a DJI logo on it, demand will be VERY high.

I am starting to feel excited, although I will always wait for some time to see how a new product behaves in real life.

TBH - I have been through more than enough spontaneous purchases where drone’s are concerned and am very happy with what I’ve got - The kid in me gets excited when these launch events take place but I’ll wait - I only buy drones in person these days in case it needs taking back! My brand new Mavic Alpine White shutting down due to overheating before I even flew it last November reminded me of why that’s important LOL

LOL You’re not wrong Tviscomi - it will dominate every YT channel dedicated to drones and this forum for months to come! From unboxing to first flight, comparisons with every drone ever made, reviews and crashes for sure... love it or hate it the Mavic is the most commercially successful consumer drone made to date and this will be the latest version of it!
