To all my fellow drone pilots, I appologize for not paying better attention to my surroundings. However, no one was hurt, the Phantom 1 still flies perfectly, and I have a video that demonstrates what not to do when you're flying in populated areas. Enjoy, then submit your replies. I can take it. The fall happens at 2:54, well the "first" fall...
Taken at the Cape May NJ Ferry port, in North Cape May (Just a week before a local ordinence barring drone flights in the area)

Yes. Was looking at the Phantom, while walking backward. There was a hole in the sand from the previous tide. I fell backwards and obviously thought pulling the throttle all the way back would be the right way to save the drone. So, we now all know my emergency thought process leaves a little to be desired.

"Did you do a complete somersault?"

Well, 50% of one. Sort of... The back half of one, I guess.

Hmm...  Video cannot be displayed with my current setup (so the still image says in place of video).
Was able to watch it on Vimeo.  Too bad the camera didn't get to you just a couple seonds earlier to catch the actual fall.

Could have been bad if someone had been under the P1.  Glad you and everyone else came out okay, and the bird was fine.

Plays fine here. Not sure why your location is stalling.

Bet you got a little sand in your scalp when you did that acrobatic stunt? Haha

Thanks for sharing this lighthearted fun... Good stuff. Cheers.
I take it the drone was fine?

Is that a DJI sand angel I spy at the end? Presume no problems with sand in motors etc etc.
Oh yeah the solution is to drink more and that way people won't think you're clumsy

I took it home and fired up the air compressor. Used an air nozzle and sprayed air around the motors while slowly spinning the props. Never experienced any problems after. That's fine sand too. I was pretty worried about that when it happened.

(I live in New Jersey, made drone infamous by the bill in state congress that would make it illegal to drink and 'fly' a drone)
