The Galileo Ferraris Power Plant is an example of a former plant designated to be powered by nuclear energy. Due to the fact that Italy, by popular vote, chose to dismantle ALL nuclear plants, the Galileo Ferraris was never opened and was later transformed into a regular Power Plant. Today it is inactive and sits in the middle of Piedmont, next to rice fields and surrounded by pretty hills and towns, as well as a couple of literally "Ghost Towns". Italy was the third country in the World to renounce nuclear power and the only nation that completely dismantled existing ones. The video ends with a rightful homage to a Tesla electric car.

I hope you're enjoying some free time. Galileo Ferraris never worked as a Nuclear plant, as Italy, through a popular vote, chose to renounce atomic energy a long time ago. They tried to convert it, but today it's basically closed down. Unfortunately the whole turmoil around it also had a negative impact on the area around it, which is one of the best for rice, which is a specialty of the region. The area is surrounded by ghost towns, but you can also find small gems like nice, inexpensive but upscale restaurants.

Interesting and informative. I notice the drone flew beneath the HT powerlines at one point. Was it unaffected because the lines are redundant, or just not susceptible to interference?   There are 400KV lines a kilometre from where I live and I am wary of approaching them.   Thanks for the share.

Totally unaffected. I think they're active.

Really interesting to see up close.   All the plants here are NFZ's.
