after app updating to the last version 4.2.4, i lost google maps, displays something mapbox and point of interest mode does not work properly.i can't see the speed, is always zero

has someone else the same issue?

Flew my Pro under 4.2.4 a couple of days ago, all was well.

I did a really quick flight the other day and afterwards, looking at the screenshot, noticed mapbox.....
Dunno....

They're now using mapbox (an open source mapping platform for custom designed maps) instead of Google maps.

MAPBOX appear better than the HERE maps, however bring back Google maps.

The new map is crap. Can't use it here in the north oF Sweden. Bad. Is there a way to get back Here maps?

Mapbox is incredibly outdated... if i were to use the satellite view and fly over "fields", I'd crash into 20 story buildings... please bring google maps back

I can not understand how they think there in dji really.

same happen to me, mapbox appear black, i don't know why they do something (update), and release it. every body wants to fly and wait for it, but always happen something!!! unbelievable!!!

Can domeone please explain the mapbox thing? Do we have to downlod an app called mapbox in order to get the maps in the dji go app. I used to cache the google maps but during flights ( i do not have wifi or 4g) i cannot see the cache maps in the dji go app

Mapbox is just a web service that supplies map data, no additional app needed.

IIRC DJI used to use Google Maps on Android and Apple Maps on iOS. I believe we still get Apple Maps on iOS but it seems there was some interim service that replaced Google on Android until this latest change to Mapbox?

A solution for Android users.

You may need to have your cellular data turned in able to maps to work.

On IOS device the maps are working offline , meaning even with out data connection however for android users a need for data connection is required

here is a valid solution, though temporary.
search for dji apk on the web. I found a version 3.1.28, which uses google maps, on a site apkpure .

download the .xapk
uninstall the go version xx.xx.30
install the xx.xx.28 which you just downloaded.
because the go app is so complex there are some other steps to jump through for the install

now you can use google maps offline and without cell signal.
in google maps download the area you are flying with the offline option
wait for a working version of the update xx.xx.31 or whatever.

I use a spare MP for my drone (without a sim), using Google maps was perfect but with map box, the display is black. Tried using the map offline but that doesn't seem to work! Bring back Google maps

I don't think they will respond unless you have a compliment about them or some pretty video to share.  That seems to always get a response from them.

Google used to provide most of their mapping services for free. That ended sometime last year. I use a lot of apps that relied on Google mapping services (especially the "Map" feature in Adobe Lightroom and geocaching-related apps). After Google began charging a monthly fee, per user and on a monthly basis, the "free ride" was over.

For Adobe (and I presume DJI) to continue providing mapping services from Google to its customers, it would have had to either eat the fee from Google (which, with thousands of users, wouldn't be cheap), charge their customers a monthly fee (which is probably impractical), or look for alternate mapping services. DJI apparently opted to switch mapping services, and that's why we see MapBox maps now.

I have absolutely no inside information about DJI's decision-making, but it's probably not a coincidence that they switched from Google maps to MapBox maps soon after Google started getting greedier.

Blame Google, not DJI.
