Just watched this video from Rick at Drone Valley

at about 8 minutes in, he compares transmitter power Spark vs Mavic Air. In both EC and FCC, the Mavic Air has twice the power of the Spark.

How great would it be if the Spark transmitter used these power levels. Might resolve the issues many of us have in EC compliant countries of poor connectivity.

It is also enhanced by the physical position of the antenna in the front of the landing gear on the MA, so the range will never be matched on the original Spark.

I understand that, but any increase in RC transmission power can old be a good thing. The result for the spark has to be better than it is now

The transmitter power is the same for both. Antennas and encoding make the difference.

The specs say:
Spark:
Transmitter Power (EIRP)        2.4 GHz
FCC: ≤26 dBm; CE: ≤18 dBm; SRCC: ≤18 dBm; MIC: ≤18 dBm
5.8 GHz
FCC: ≤28 dBm; CE: ≤14 dBm; SRCC: ≤26 dBm; MIC: -

Mavic air:
Transmission Power (EIRP)        2.400 - 2.4835 GHz:
FCC:≤26 dBm; CE: ≤18 dBm; SRRC: ≤18 dBm; MIC:≤18 dBm

5.725 - 5.850 GHz:
FCC: ≤30 dBm; CE: ≤14 dBm; SRRC: ≤26 dBm

Except for FCC has 2dBm more with 5.8GHz.

Rick must be wrong then.
Guess it was too good to be true.

It's very location dependant. High, low wet or dry terrain etc.
I put some parabolic antennae reflectors on my rc, and tripled the range. But accurate aim is then required.

I've tried the FCC hacked app.
Solid connection everytime out to 300+ft.

I would have preferred to be CE compliant (as I'm in the UK), if it transmitted to the range of the Mavic Air

I think the spark antennas are inside the front arms, and that’s where to do any bessermachen.
Maybe I’m wrong. If not, the antennas run along motor power wires which emit a lot of noise.
