What mobile device you are going to use for your PT3?
I have Galaxy Note 4 and Note 10.1 2014edition, DJI Pilot installed fine but seem my Note 10.1 a bit too big for device handle?

and how about you?

Going to attempt to use my Galaxy Note Edge and see if it works.   Will be buying an Ipad if not probably assuming DJI is going to update the software with waypoints and POI.

iPad Air if I can plug in the lightning port on the Apple Lightning AV HDMI Adapter so I can output HDMI to FPV goggles while receiving data from the controller via lightning port.
In other words, FPV goggles are a must. I need to find a tablet that can output to goggles. I am open to suggestions.

Iphone 6+

I have a Samsung Tab 10.1, will it even fit? If not, using my Droid Turbo.

Either iPhone 6+ or iPad 2

The iPad 2 won't work since you need an A7 processor or newer.

First I was planning to use my iPhone 6 but then I changed my mind and have now bought a second hand iPad mini 2 to be able to get a better view

Nope, It was model before the first Ipad air came out

I would love to say iphone6+ HOWEVER it the pilot app version on appstore doesn't work with the  Phantom 3 !!!! Yes I got my  Phantom 3 already, and it didn't work.. (it worked fine with android)

have you tried uninstall and reinstall the app?

I just went to DJI Pilot experience for PT3 and the dealer are using same Iphone6+ on them and working really well.

really? can you ask him what IOS version he have? I have 8.3 I have install / uninstall reinstall and whatever but nothing worked   however it worked great with the android version (which is newer..)

maybe the dealer have some unrelesased apple version? like developers version? I will really apricate your help.. as I have Phantom 3 Pro that I can't fly!

Isn't sunlight/outdoor visibility (screen brightness) the most important factor when selecting a device for this usage?

I already have a Sony Xperia Z tablet and will try using it. Not sure it's fast enough though. Still, it's waterproof and that can't be wrong for outdoor usage

You may use the wifi-version for the tablet but must have GPS installed.

Well, now that we all know that IOS APP is not compatible with the P3 at the moment.. I think its safe to say that anyone looking to use their P3 will have to use an android device.....

iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6 : just waiting for the update for iOS !

just an update, not every android device are supported right now, I tried the LG GPAD 7 and it doesn't work so far.. so make sure you know which android device it support before buying one... (learn from my mistake )

Look at the Inspire recommended devices and you will be good to go.

Borrow someones Android device make the connection and set your parameters in the P3 and go out and fly.  You do not have to have a device connected after you set the craft up.  I just tested mine now.  Will you have all the functions, no but you can go out and fly, take videos and pictures.  The iOS App will be available soon.

Are you say that when my P3A arrives I will not be able to use my iPhone to fly it?
I was sure I saw it being flown this past weekend with a iPhone6.  This
will be my first time flying so I'm just looking for basic flight.

It depends on when it arrives.  We are waiting for Apple to approve the App.  It has already been approved for the Inspire, we are now using different hardware that requires a new MFI from Apple.  We are ready but cannot release a public version without their permission.  We are sorry.  Read the alternatives listed above if you need them.

I should be okay if it comes out soon, it will give me time to charge the batteries should the P3A arrive before the app.
