Just wondering what's the top speed you have achieved with your Phantom.
I know Phantoms are not "speed" drones, but I've have top my Phantom 3 4k at 44mph (70.8kph)
It's really amazing how fast these drones can fly.

I’ve had my P4P do 55mph but I know others on here can beat that easy.

110mph, down the freeway.

Oh, well, yeah, it was strapped to the passenger seat on my SpYder RS-S. Haha

But I have another drone that really can clip. Voltage 500 3D.
Here's a friend Matt from helifreak.com demoing his.

What do you think? Faster than a Phantom? Chuckles

Yes, he's very Proficient, at the RC sticks. ;-)
You could even say, well practiced. Haha

The Phantom is pretty fast, but there's really no comparison between the two.
Some days you just want to have a relaxing flight, other times, it's a screaming eagle tearing up the sky.

But Tareq Alsaadi from UAE, is the king of RC helicopter flying. Have you seen his style?

A 3D helicopter or collective pitch, has three motor speeds. When you go power up, things can get very interesting.... Haha

I could watch him do speed passes all day long.

But his unique style and incredible adeptness with the RC is quite amazing, to this mere mortal.
A day in the life:

He is really a super nice guy too. His dad is an oil baron, likely billionaires.
When they play monopoly, oh never mind. Chuckles

Don't hate, respect the great. Haha

I know it doesn't seem humanly possible, does it? ;-)

Just keep practicing, every day, every week, all year long, for a decade or more.
It takes 10,000hrs to become an expert at mostly anything we desire to master, & be proficient.
Before that we are but grasshoppers...

75.2 M.P.H. with P4P in Atti and gusty tailwind. I only had the hammer down for about 15 seconds and 1300 feet downwind before I chickened-out and returned, but it was still gaining speed before doing so.

Not trying to burst any bubbles or egos here - but the Phantom has a max FW controlled AIRSPEED.

The speeds you see on GPS and get reported as in posts above are GROUND SPEED based on AIRSPEED +/- WIND.

I have had well over 40m/s with my P3's ... but in reality it was still only 15 - 16m/s in the air ... (40 m/s = 89.5mph). I actually got caught out in the end by not being to get back and lost the P3S in the river.

For actual speed records speed should be recorded in two directions exactly opposite to each other to cancel out wind effects.

For me 222kph fixed wing record (HK Parkjet) - I used a Pitot Tube recorder which gives AIRSPEED and qualifies with single direction. Here it is doing over 180kph on another slower run with change of prop etc.

And here's a converted T45 at similar speed as it 'whoooooshes' past !!

Wow, your records are much better than the specs of our products.

I never worried about design specs as you cannot forecast when a nice wind will bring your drone home at a fast pace.

Actually my P4P+ flies with 1183.97 km/h. This is 328.88 m/s.
Due to FW bugs which does not allow me to fly even faster...

When grounded.

When using a spotter, they are there for several reasons.
One is to give his mentor immediate first aid, should anything ever go wrong.
He could be holding a timer, cell phone, with 911 on speed dial, I don't know. I've never gawked around, but keep my keen eyes on the flying prize.
All I see is the third guy, holding a DSLR. Doing his own video.
When our friend in NY was struck down by his TRex 700E, his Dad was standing right there, but the way the blades struck the poor kid, he was nearly decapitated by his mistake. He died instantly.

Honestly, his misfortune, took away my spirt of building my TRex 700E DFC HV kit, and it's sat collecting, dust, without my attention. So I bought the Phantom 3 Pro, to continue flying.
I do plan on getting motivated with it again, soon. It just takes time to grieve.

Gee whiz, I thought I was well over this. But I still tear up, so I guess not.

Thanks for your kind words, that's very decent of you.
it's also part of what I love about this RC hobby and forum too.
So many genuine and sincere folks with compassion for the others here. That's a good feeling.

If you ever look up this accident, and see the pics, you will be shocked.

(New York RC helicopter accident, fatality)

I appreciate your ear/shoulder, but it's a very sensitive subject. I didn't realize that I was this still tender.

OK. Stretch the legs, Yes, it's always good to get up, and take a short walk, a tall drink of water.  ;-)
