Are the MAVIC AIR & iPHONE 8 PLUS compatible ?

Yes, I have the same combo and it works perfectly.

GOOD TO KNOW!  I'm trying to decide between a iPad4 Mini and an iPhone. to connect to the MAVIC AIR controller.
DJI only lists iPhones up to iPhone 7 PLUS as being compatible and "optimized"
I'm not sure what, "optimized" means !  
The iPhone 7 Plus does not feature WIRELESS CHARGING like the iPhone 8 Plus does.  My car has wireless charging capability, so your reply makes my
decision easier !

So, just to be clear; the iPhone 8+ fits nicely into the MA's controller.  It sounds like the answer is yes, but I just want to be clear.
As noted in other posts the MA is "optimized" for the iPhone 7 or 7+ but, according to Apple, the dimensions of the 8+ are slightly larger.

Yep, iPhone 8 Plus fits in the MA controller perfectly. No issues

DJI says that the lowest temp you can fly in is 0 celsius. There are people flying in -20 celsius and lower,but only for short periods and some times they are even pre-heating the battery before flight.

Some people even managed to grow stalactites on their props but that's for another time
