Anyone has similar issue ? Gimbal of my Mavic Air goes down when the aircraft tilts in pitch. Here's link for the test I've done.

The Mavic Air gimbal has a max. upward tilt rate from 22°, so if your Mavic Air tiltes more forward (ex. 35° ins Sports Mode) the gimbal can't compensate anymore. It is basically a physical limitation of the gimbal. To handle this for filming stay in P mode and be gentle with the forward or backward commands

Guys, many thanks for your comments.  My friend who owns Air mentioned that he also has a same issue.  He said it is because Air has too much maneuverability which excessive for physical limitation of its gimbal.  If so, SPARK should have same issue but I did not feel that as a trouble.  Then I tested with my sparky and found SPARK actually has shifted gimbal in violent maneuver just like Air but it will immediately mend its gimbal angle automatically.  I think this is kind of bug of the software...

I have the same issue when flying in Sport Mode, it tips down (which I somewhat expect due to the pitch when flying) but it does not correct once the drone is level and hovering again - I have to manually reset the gimbal.

So, I went through and watched a bunch of review videos on YouTube, and pretty much everyone who launches the drone forward in Sport Mode has this gimbal tilt and stay happen (they just don't notice).

I agree.  surprisingly, a lot of experienced reviewers haven't noticed this.  Last firmware update did not fix the issue so I assume DJI engineers have also not noticed...

Yes, I see it. A few seconds after he takes off, the gimbal pitches forwards suddenly. Same here:

Thanks for the info.  It's snowy today here but I'll try it later.

From my understanding, since the video in the direction is used after pitch moves,  auto returning back will change the video direction, that's not so well.  And as the origin angle will lead pitch self-move, it will move again after return back!
As far as I know, mavic pro doesn't return back as well.

It´s an unacceptable behavior. Sparky did it well. But Sports Mode on Air is useless with that issue!
Please DJI: Stop it!

Have spotter, fly backwards... in post reverse the direction. It's awesome when river flows upwards.
Easy fix. Next problem, please!

What you gonna do if moving objects were in flame, such as cars, waters, birds and animals.  All these will go reverse lol

Tuning down the standard (abrupt) brake setting from 130% will stop the camera from tilting (and staying) down when braking from backwards flight.

I think litho has a point, the Mavic air creating an alternative endstop when you max out its capabilities could be an design decision from a smooth video recording perspective. staying down a bit should will give the aircraft a bigger tilting room to compensate fast movements.

Thanks, but unfortunately does not work for forward flying. I will sell the Drone...
This behavior is useless for me. No option for filming...

Ok, found a solution: I have limited the angle of attack in sport mode with DJI Assistant 2 @parameters (Debug Mode).
It now flies a bit slower, but the gimbal setting is now optimal.

Gosh man you are still complaining about sport mode? Even the mavic pro does this to some degree. And good job admitting you hacked params in sport mode

Pro 158 flights many miles....air 52 flights already lots of miles. In fact i am top 5 in range leaderboard on the "other "forum cant say name get in trouble...was #1 for a while. Anyways. I think its a hardware limitation. Unless dji used some kind of new algorithm with the way gimble handled in spirt mode i dont see know way of fixing it. Besides slowing ac down with lowering speed from lowering tilt° and i like my speed in sport. Maybe they could dampen the effect ....when filming u only want some of the sky in shot anyway its called the "thirds" rule look it up. Naturally camera will tilt down. My mav pro did this a little ...my spark did it and looked horrible when gimbal returned to upper point after going down....these are camera platforms not race drones....if u do want the shot u are trying to get in sport without gimbal doing this. Ease into the speed dont just slam right stick...but for that u have to learn how to fly....fortunately for me i have about 14 yrs of hardcore flying rc heli's and drones. It works and gimbal wont pitch down....ease into it young grasshopper ease.....and remember, not a racing drone....dji = cinematic film platform

And i wouldnt call any of those reviewers experienced....hardly. one guy couldnt even have the common sense to take wind into acct. The other kept flying while battery said NA ....who does that? On top of that here is a tip. If both of them would have hit rth and pushed right stick together they would have achieved 29 mph instead of 18mph on way back...all they have experience in is uploading to youtube to get views.....ya want to see some real flying/reviews go to my youtube channel

You can fly gentle with 1 mph in sport mode, but the gimbal is still tilting. Nevertheless, I have found a solution for me, that works perfectly.

The amount that the gimbal tilts when you first take off in Sport mode (and it does this whether you go slow or fast in that mode) seems to be an optimal angle for full throttle forward or reverse without the gimbal hitting the top or the bottom of its compartment.  Bring it down to eye level and just observe the gimbal when slamming the sticks full forward and reverse (again and again).  The video shot actually stays pretty consistently level looking... even though it might not be the exact angle you want, the result is amazingly smooth when you consider how violently the Air is changing direction.
Hard left followed by hard right, etc. is a totally different game.  Aircraft tilts severely and there is no compensation in the gimbal for that.  However, it should make for a pretty cool FPV.
BUT, I do NOT have the problem of the gimbal dropping down like you do when flying slow in reverse.

btw The Mavic Pro has a similar "feature" if you have the gimbal tilted higher than the standard horizon (extended 30deg tilt ON), it will automatically bring it down to horizon level when you fly forward over 10kmh.   It does not reset to the previous gimbal tilt when you stop.

those extra 8 degrees tilt that the Mavic Pro has can do a lot though

Yes those extra 8° do help...but none the less this is the air we are talking about...and like w.t foxtrot says for how violent the aircraft brakes and stops it's crazy how smooth it will actually stay when it's in sport mode going full forward or reverse I think some people just want too much out of the aircraft without knowing the logistics of it. Dude its a tiny gimbal on a small ac and the thing is already hauling but over 40 mph. I'm amazed with the capability of the gimbal especially coming from the spark I thought it would be like the spark at first but it's not I'm happy with it
