So now they have doubled the number of arms and motors since the earlier version?

I thought it always had 8 motors?

I hope these make a debut in Alberta someday...

I would like to be one of the first here to dare take a trip.

We are well beyond the cartoon fantasy. This is reality, at its finest.

Bring on the drones... Hahaha

I thought it always had 8 motors?

It did originally, 8 motors on four arms. Now it has 16 motors on eight arms. Look at the very latest version compared tro the original.

Watch this video through and see how the number of motors change: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018- ... ht-in-china/9405072
And if you think this is going to fly in the USofA, then consider the FAA focus on humanly piloted vehicles, everything hangs on the premise that there is a pilot in charge.

Well, 16 motors are better than 8, but I just hate the design, all those whirling blades down at knee-level. And Ehang made very ordinary consumer drones, why would you think their passenger carrying version is better?

R&D with crash test dummies? Hahaha
Heck, they better have it down to a joy ride by now.
How many years have they been harping about this creation?

I would still hop in for a 'blast' across town.

Probably eat a favorite meal well ahead of time. ;-)

Hopefully one wouldn't need a seasick sachel. Chuckles

Yes, but there is no piloting involved. Passengers only need to sign a waiver and go for a ride.

What were you thinking? Hijack one and head home? Hahaha

No kits, but sure you can purchase one. $350,000.

Do you even know how much extra props cost? Hahaha

Hope it does not use a DJI FW to fly...
In such a situation we wouldn't like to see some brave captains flying it...first...

No, likely not DJI firmware, as it's a different company, all together.

Hopefully the software is sound. It would be a drag to have a fly away. Hahaha

Or land in a tall tree. Chuckles

We are all amazed, but this shouldn't be too surprising, as it's been in the works for several years already.

I hope they have it down to a science by now..

These things will replace taxis and trains in the decades to come. I see they already plan to use them to transport vital organs to hospitals for transplants and alike. Would feel very strange sitting in it and the drone flying itself with only you onboard - the future is here (for those with a spare 300 grand LOL).

Yes, the future is bright, as the sky darkens with drone traffic...

I still hope to ride in one, someday...

There is no piloting involved, it is preprogrammed, you just give it your destination, and it will land at the closest landing dock.
You can build your own model, if you prefer to pilot it.

A decade from now, when the skyways are thick with these craft for the commute to work, how long until we see reports of "drone rage" replacing "road rage"

How can you have drone rage, when you have no control over the 184?

No, I think these days would be long over.

Today in Calgary Alberta, there was a 50 car pileup, in the fog. Ouch!!
Imagine a 50 drone crash?? Ha

Too bad the person inside has no control, once it lifts off.

It's all auto pilot, until it lands. But the ride would be exhilarating

I look forward to these becoming a world wide phenom...

It might be a great stock investment, getting in on the ground floor.

If this thing flies, and it should, it will be popping up around the globe, as insurance gives the go ahead.

Would you volunteer to be one of the first paying passengers.. I would, gladly.

The only high flying around here, are Cheech & Chong, coming soon,  to the River Cree Casino. Ha
March 29 2018.
$49 tickets seems like a reasonable price to go see a home town hero, who hit the big time.

Rae Dawn Chong was born here in Edmonton Alberta, I wonder if she will be in attendance?
Very special guest Shelby Chong is part of the venue. She's a hoot, too. Hahah

If I ever get inside a 184, I will have my Nikon D800 battery fully charged, capturing every moment.Wow, the sights to behold.

The bad news is, your ehang experienced flyaway. The good news is, you flew away with it so you know where it is. The other bad news is, you have no idea where you are now.

Lucky, I live in the same city as the flight. So my bearings are always keen.
