Any suggestions on cheaper androids that work well with a Spark? I've seen discussions about Androids that work well, but not focusing on price. I want to have a cell phone just for the Spark and thought about getting an iphone, but that's almost the price of another Spark!

Not against androids by any means but honestly I'd jump to eBay, for sale and trade pages, and amazon. Looking for some deals on iPhones. I've seen some iPhone 6 and 6s' for under $200 in good condition being sold. Even some iPad Mini's under 200. Which would give you a better view for sure. It's nearly half the price of a spark at most and yes it is an investment of sorts but I see the value in reliability vs the risk of having issues.

I've been using a 32GB Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X for the last several months and I am extremely happy. Many flights with no crashes. I have used WiFi but there is a slight lag with the video so I run OTG with an older version of the go 4 app. I also have a Nvidia Shield K1 tht also works great but i prefer the smaller profile of the Xiaomi. There are several videos showing this phone working with a spark.

When looking at phones pay attention to the CPU a Snapdragon 625 Octa Core 2.0GHz with a minimum of 2GB RAM (more is better) 32 or 64 GB ROM  great choice. GPU Adreno 506 great choice. Anything less is going to give lots of video problems.

Hi, guys. I would recommend users use the devices in the recommended list for better flight performance. Thanks for the understanding and support.

Just wondering, there are 4 and 5 years old phones on it.
How certain is DJI, that they can handle the latest Go4 App?
Only curious, since it will have to work on all Android since 4.4 now

Χiaomi Redmi 3 Pro works pretty descent despite the fact it's pretty old but surprisingly it works even better with a friend of mine - the cheapest one  Xiaomi Redmi 4A - no crashes and very bright screen.

I'm using this beast as my main phone right now. It handles everything i throw at it. I've done screen recording at the same time as flying and no problems at all

The wunderphone  (Huawei Ascend XT2) looks like a great deal. They were at one time only $49.00 but that ship has sailed. You can still find them for $75-80. I read something about hacking required but still a great phone. I fI could find one for $50 I would get it just to play with. The actual specs look pretty good.

Does that fit in the regular controller or do you need an adapter?

For a tablet I also use a Nvidia Shield K1 with my MP and spark if I need a video output for glasses . They are getting harder to find but it is about the best Android tablet for drone flying. They were blowing them out for $200.00 new but now only used are available and they are anywhere up to $400.00. It's a 10 inch tablet and a special mount is required.

Thanks for suggestion. Actually already tried one from a friend but screen is way too dim to me in the daylight.

Yeah wish I could have scored the $49 deal. Paid full $89 retail and still couldn't be happier. No hack required. I took the sim card out before powering on, uninstalled everything I could that I would never use anyway, installed GO4 and it works awesome. Fits the controller perfect, fast, bright.

I found one today on craigslist for $60.00 brand new in a sealed box and decided to give it a try. WOW what a great little phone. Very bright and very little video delay. I set it up with my MP using OTG. Super simple to get going. I did not remove the SIM card but probably will. It is brighter than my Nvidia Shield K1 and it fits the controller perfectly.

WOW again what a GREAT display for under $100.00!!! $60 in my case. I'll bet they can be found even cheaper if they are used

I will downgrade the DJI GO 4 app to 15 and try it with the spark soon. I only like to fly with OTG. Hope DJI gets it together and releases an up to date version of DJI GO 4 with OTG for the spark soon.

So awhile back, I decided to get a dedicated phone for moviepass, then ended up using it with the Spark also.  It's a t-mobile (US) revvl, or an Alcatel A30, running Android 7.0.  They had a special deal on a free phone with $100 prepaid plan that I never use.  Works fine so far with the Spark.  Latest app and firmware, no otg cable used.   I don't use any of the app's image processing features, though, so can't speak to that.  I do all of that on a PC.

So this may be stupid question, but for an iPad mini 2, or any iPad, could I just buy it with Wifi or do I need Wifi + celular? (I intend to only use the iPad for flying drones)

I have the exact same question.

Based on other things I read, wi-fi only will work fine, the only thing you lose by not having celular is being able to move the home point.
