Just did an update of the Fly Safe Data through Assistant and it failed. The Spark is no longer recognized in Assistant, it will not connect to the remote controller and the Spark's wifi network is not visible. Holding the rear button down never generates a beeping tone. I have absolutely no way to connect to the drone to even try to reset it to factory defaults either through Assistant or the DJI Go App.

Tom, did you try to change a PC for further check? I would recommend you reinstall the DJI Assistant 2 for further check. Thanks for your support.
I tried a different computer running assistant but that does not connect either. Here's something that I noticed. The link for assistant is different on the Spark page compared to the Mavic Air page. The version of assistant that appears to have bricked my Spark is the one from the Mavic Air page. There was a recent update to the one linked on the Mavic Air page but that one does not work either. Still unable to connect to the Spark in any way other than the SD card mounts when the Spark has been plugged into a computer.
The problem with this is updates are mostly intended to fix software errors. Sure, things can go wrong in the update, but most likely, things get fixed.
When your computer crashes, unlike a drone, it doesn't really crash.
Anyone with a Spark that has updated their DJI Assistant may want to avoid using DJI Assistant to do any updates and instead do the updates from the DJI Go app.
I think the safest option would be to use the DJI Go app for the update or at least make sure you get the most recent DJI Assistant version. I noticed that there was another update to Assistant that might fix the issue I had, but it doesn't fix that my drone is a very expensive card reader now.
I have to admit that the "Safe Fly" data update has made my Spark safer. I could hand over the controls now to a guy who's idea of fun was low passes in sport mode over babies and kittens. Hopefully this gets sorted out soon, but I suspect that I'm going to have to send it back to resolve the issue.

What steps should I be taking now to get this resolved? Is there some other factory reset I could try? Do I need to send the Spark in to be serviced?
