RC signal distance is pitiful after service!

Just got my P3S back from service after a crash and and the RC signal is lost around 300 feet away straight out the box, tried FW update, relink RC, IMU calibration, compass calibration. The best support could give me was try another phone.

Well, considering the phone has absolutely nothing to do with range, that should give you an idea of the worth of DJI service.

So you are just echoing the same incorrect advice given by the service people? The phone has nothing to do with the range achieved. The aircraft can be flown without the phone attached at all.

Seriously now, they are being paid to relay those kind of useless comments ?

If you can, find another drone to try your RC with to see if something's wrong with your RC.

Assuming that you are not flying in a residential area full of 2.4GHz & 5.8GHz signals and lots of metal constructions around your drone.

Did you ever try logging out of and back into dji while in the app? the last firmware version(P3C_FW_V01.09.0200.bin)requires this to unlock range limitations.

Yes, when I tried another phone i had to install the app and log in again.

Got it. Forgot difference between signal loss and distance lock. Will be interesting to see how things work out after servicing.

Mine was like that straight out the box,   sent back to dji first time and they did nothing,  so I went to a local dealer and they said my RC is faulty,  so I brought a new one,  but same results,  so now they sent it back to dji,  had it since August and all this time it's been getting repaired !!!! Over it,   also I've tried multiple devices,  iPhone, I pads,  Samsungs,  Xiaomi notes etc and it makes no difference

I felt like trying anther phone was simple enough so i did it to satisfy them. I thought that trying another phone was useless but what the hell, cant say I didn't try!!!

If it is a P3 Standard, then that is a pretty ttypical distance, particularly if you are flying in the 'burbs.

Sounds like  the AC  might have an issue with the antenna (caused from the crash) that was overlooked.
I can't see how the phone/tablet or RC could be an issue, they didn't crash!

Possible  antenna wire connection or antenna wire loose/broken?
Doesn't DJI check all operations/functions (connect a RC to AC and run operational checks) before shipping back out?

Just had my main board replaced and new RC. Distance issue went away. Handles better than before. The DJI service exceeded expectations.

That's kind of crappy, that's almost half the cost of just buying a used one from someone. I could go out and find a used one for $200-250. Why didn't they fix that in the first place, either. I'd want them to cut that repair cost in half, especially on a drone with such little value at this point.

Well it didn't cost me a dime this time, they covered it under warranty. I'm still $180 bucks in the hole from the first trip for service though : (
