Since the Mavic Air accepts XC specification cards I would guess the biggest available would work. Many advise not to go to big, because if you loose your drone, you loose your footage. I think 64 GB is the sweet spot.
Just make sure its a 'UHS-3' speed card, or else it could be deemed to slow for recording video.

This is from the DJI specs sheet on the Air: -

SUPPORTED SD CARDS

Supported SD Cards
microSD Class 10 or UHS-1 rating required
Recommended microSD Cards
16G Sandisk Extreme
Kingston 16GB SDHC-I SDCAC/16GB
32G
Sandisk Extreme V30
Sandisk Extreme V30 A1
Sandisk Extreme V30 Pro A1
64G
Sandisk Extreme V30 A1
Sandisk Extreme Pro V30 A1
128G
Sandisk Extreme V30 A1
Sandisk Extreme Plus V30 A1

So 128gb is the max.

128 isn't the max, 2 GB is going to be the max, the problem is the availability, Sandisk doesn't make U3 cards yet that that go beyond 128 GB.

Just make sure its a 'UHS-III' speed card, or else it could be deemed to slow for recording video.

Talk about confusing memory card specs... "UHS-III" (roman numeral) is actually a brand new UHS bus speed with a second set of pins for ultra fast data transfer. The cards are still pretty rare and expensive.

The Mavic quads use cards with 1 set of pins (UHS-I). UHS-III will work (because they are backward compatible), but you will not see the speed increase.
What you're talking about, and the one you want to get, is "U3" as opposed to U1, which uses the UHS-I bus.

In addition to the U3 marking, you will also see the roman numeral I, indicating which UHS bus it uses.

I highly doubt they had this card to test with when they wrote the manual (probably still don't). It's so new, it doesn't have a single review on Amazon yet. They're not going to recommend or guarantee compatibility with a card they haven't tested.

I doubt that testing that card, that few of their customers will ever purchase, is high on their list of priorities. Spec-wise, it should work great.

Also why is the Mavic Pro only listed as 64gb exFAT max and I know for a fact 128gb is not compatible?

Like mainstain said,
I've bought my fair share of digital camera's, and they all listed lesser capacities because the unavailability of higher capacity cards at those times, but they all could use bigger then the listed ones, they just had to stick to the standard, and its that standard which limits the capacity.

And you could say it actually is listed, under the first 2 sentences:

'Supported SD Cards
microSD Class 10 or UHS-1 rating required'

Are you having problems with a 128 GB card on the Mavic Pro? I can't find many problems if I google.

I really wouldn't know, probably a good thing the Mavic Pro is rated to be supported to 64GB max. What make and series is the card?

Sandisk Extreme Pro. To fill my 128gb shooting 2.7K @ 30p on my MPP would take about 10+ flights anyway and I import my files after 3 as a general rule so 32 and 64gb are more than sufficient. I think a 2TB card would cost more than the drone LOL Anyway, thanks for sharing your knowledge - appreciated.

Your welcome

I got a 64 GB card with the MA and I really don't need or want it to be bigger either, I do know that I need a bigger harddrive now though

If the drone crashed in the sea and your previous 10 flights are still on the card that would bother me as much as losing the drone! I tend to use 32gb now on the smaller drones.

The bigger the card the more you lose if lost or broken. Some people suggest buying a few 16GB cards so if worst comes to worst you have only lost a maximum of 16GB.

The nomenclature of these cards is hysterical. Soon enough we'll have requirements such as "class 10 U3 UHSIII-VI (') Tertiary Z Unimatrix 07 A1 # Type H"
