Just saw that there seems to be a firmware update that has significantally increased the range for the Air. Anyone else seen this? It looks very promising, and it would make the Air like the Pro in terms of range...making the Air even more surperior Has anyone else done the update and had better range results? I don’t have an Air, but this might make an upgrade more enticing... Here’s the video where I first found the info:

I looked, but I couldn’t find a new firmware update besides the one that came out on the 9th. Maybe just a smaller update?

I'm getting the Maxx Mod Air.  It's with Drone World already and i'll post my review once i get my controller back

They do quality mods, and they look awesome

Tried to test the max range today on my Air. I made it out to about 5400 feet at 400 feet high.  That’s slightly over a mile or 1.6 km. Not too bad. I am out in the country.

I still thought it would have done better. DJI advertises that it can do 4km. That is what they say, so it is probably a bit stretched, but that is a fair amount farther than you got. Have you done the 1.00.0200 update? It supposedly maximized the transmission for the WiFi signal.

Yes. Latest update but there are trees where I live so I’m sure that reduces he range.  If I could go higher than 400 feet I’m sure I’d get more range.

Makes sense. What does your Mavic do for range?

i did 3500m and could have gone more if i went in a straight line and knew how much battery i would need to get back into the wind.  made it with 30% left.  I can see 4km under ideal conditions.

I’ve had the MPP out to 12,000 feet. About 2.25 Miles or 3.6 km.  I could have gone farther but i didn’t want to cross a major highway.

To the guy getting the maxxmod i dont think it will address the laginess that comes with wifi especially in sport mode....distance is great with air. But sometimes there is lag...im in talks with titan (antennas) and he has a really cool project he is working on for the air. Pretty much making hd signal (the live feed) and distance super reliable. Clearer/no lag/and farther. Its in testing right now cant really talk about it. But i would wait! I am! I think the maxxmod is the sparks maxxmod antenna anyway (came to market super fast) no way they did r&d and spark has same wifi setup /only difference is relocated antennas on air (enhanced wifi ... both do 5.8/2.4)

Hi there, we always recommend updating the firmware to the latest version coz it optimizes the performance of the drone. But as for the question you asked above, according to the latest release note, it had not mentioned about the range. And the flight distance relates to many features, environment, the position of the antennas, etc..

That’s what was said in the notes about the 1.00.0200 update...
