Hello one and all.....

MY Air is fully updated, the batteries fully charged. When I use the auto-launch function, the Air climbs to the 4' level and doesn't stop there. It keeps climbing until I

1. Initiate a decent command via the joystick, or

2. Initiate a horizontal flight movement via the joystick.

I had this happen once before on my Mavic Pro after a firmware upgrade, but it only did it once. The Air does it everytime I launch. Any ideas???? It's not dangerous now that I know it is going to occur, but I am concerned that if I forget, it will rise to overhead obsticals such as the ceiling.

Thanks for the comments...

Jeff

This is weird, next time I am going to fly I shall test on mine. Until now I have always taken off manually.

If the little check box is ticked it will climb well above head height, for accurate landing

Yup, I think precision landing takes it up to about 7m?

I'm in Ohio so in a few months when the weather stabilizes, I will try it with the box unchecked..... that may very well be the problem/solution. Thanks so much.....

Are you checking the precision landing option?  If you check precision landing then the drone will climb higher to make sure it has a good saved image of the landing site to make precision landing work.

I was amazed by how accurate it was. Landed back within about an inch of where it took off from

Can you please enlighten me where this tick box is? Are you in IOS or Android? In Android I can't find it, have just checked again. Or I must be seriously overlooking something, which is also possible ;-)

You will only see it once you initiate an Auto Take Off.  It's in the pop-up window, giving you the option to precisely record the take off point with an image.  Very small print, and the bottom of the pop-up has the "slide to take off" bar.

on the Mavic Pro, this option said PRECIOUSLY RECORD for awhile
