Hi All,

I got the RE Edition goggles a few days ago and so far have been pretty amazed at how good they are, with one exception.

I understand from researching the goggles that they work by having a mirror inbetween the two screens, at a 45 degree angle - See here where the blue and red are the screens, and the mirror allows the right eye to look at the screen on the top while the left eye looks through the mirror at the left screen. The issue I have is that I can clearly see reflections on the mirror, so if I plug my goggles into my pc, while looking at my desktop I can see a reflection of my desktop icons (while are along the left side of the screen) reflected in roughly the middle of the screen. This happens in all input methods of the goggles, so when I connect to my mavic if I fly at night I can see reflections of various UI elements. Whikle watching some of the demo videos on the goggles I can see reflections too. I have adjusted the lenses so that they are at the correct IPD.

Is this just the price to pay for having native 1080p goggles (Which I am completely in awe of) or does nobody else see this in their goggles and is it possible I have some sort of defect with mine? I can try and get some pictures tonight if anyone would like to see an example.

Cheers,

Martin

Please provide a photo of what you are seeing. It helps to send me a personal message so we can communicate further on this point. If you are not having another issue with your Goggles, there may not be an issue with your goggles.

Hi,

I have spoken directly to DJI Support who after asking me several questions, have suggested I send them in for repair/replacement. Here's a video where I demonstrate the issue: If you have any additional thoughts I am happy to discuss further,or I will be sending them in to DJI this weekend/early next week.

I don't think this is an issue with the Goggles that will be repaired by a technician. If you wear glasses but take them off when you fly, consider wearing them. It may require a specific adjustment of your Goggles. You can also attach your Goggles to the Assistant 2 Software. Reset to Factory Settings. Refresh your firmware. Restart everything. Of course,if you don't agree with my assessment or believe I missed a point, please send in the Goggles so we can have them assessed by a technician.

Hi Mark,

I don't wear glasses and the goggles have been updated to the latest firware.

Is this reflection issue that is only present on the left eyepiece/screen is something that happens on all dji goggles? If it isn't then I would expect them to be repaired or replaced as there is a visual fault with them. If I purchased a new (fairly expensive) tv and in the middle of the screen it displayed faint images of what was on the left, I would take it back straight away for replacement. I am just trying to work out if this is just inherent to the design of the goggles, or actually a fault with my specific unit.

I have the same dim reflections, guess this is by design.

Standard Goggles!
And I also only got this kind of reflections on the left eye.
Reflections barely visible when having solidcolor on the right side of the screen (like in your example),
While fpv flying, watching movies, playing games I don't notice them at all.

Thanks for the reply, it's probably just how they work and isn't worth me sending them back. Like you say, it isn't noticeable in most situations

Hi, Guys! Anyone found anything? I have the same reflections and presumabily are from the goggles design itself. The screen is reflected by the plastic wall on the left and then it is reflected again to the eyes, by the screen itself or the mirror, cant be sure. It´s only visible with dark images as when its well lit it overrides the reflection.  I got the goggles yesterday and since then I´m trying to determine if its a bad design of if I should return it as I dont see many complaints about that.

Can anyone help?

Recently got the standard goggles, as it's winter I'm not flying. The goggles are also advertised as entertainment devices for watching movies, playing games and whatnot. So I've tried watching a couple of movies, and I have the exact same issue, the left side is reflecting itself. So if you're watching a space flick, which usually have lots of bright/dark areas in a shot, you'll basically see two spaceships flying past instead of one (that's the best example I could come up with as I just tried watching a...space flick!. On my goggles it's bad enough to make it annoying and/or kinda ruin entire scenes.

DJI support, can you please send a query to the engineers behind the goggles about this, is it to be expected with these goggles, or is something wrong? Again, the goggles are advertised as perfect for watching movies so I believe a proper answer would be a good thing

@dji_support :

Could you please reach out to your próoduct specialist for the Googles, or the ones who engineered it, and ask for clarification around the above issue? I really need some solid info as I’m thinking about using my warranty to either repair or just return them. I don’t wanna go through all that trouble if I can avoid it by getting a bit of info from DJI via this place. DJI can test this with the demo video that has the intro where the goggles flies into view, over a black background. On the left you’ should see two goggles due to the reflection (which is most prominent on the left side for some reason).
