Yes. Hobby license for anything upto a Phantom, and Commercial license for Inspire upwards. There's also a 'Professional Licence' for government and instructors

I'm guessing at some point the vehicle got stuck.  But if not...that was some nice driving too!

Legally? nope. I worked with a US team once for a shoot here and I had to get their pilot and registered before they could even import it in!

Thanks man! I wish I was the driver but I wasn't. Funny thing the official driver kept getting it stuck and a local guy had to take over!

Yeah, I've seen other shoots and the vehicles often get stuck in the sand.  Was fun to watch!

Ok, great.  Absolutely amazing...  beside of the fact I am pretty sure that most of these shots were done illegally and cannot be used for commercial purposes by any means.  It should be reported to the Competent Authorities.

For those who are concerned about flying drones in the UAE,  the law is quite strict and complicated and it is not advised to fly them at all.

And cowboys like the above one shall be subjected to the illegal activity immediately.

There's always one isn't there. FYI I'm a licensed pilot in the UAE. All my professional work is approved by Dubai Film & TV Commission, Ministry of Defence, and Dubai Civil Aviation Authority.

For the Burj Khalifa shots we used a tracking device that links into ATC at Dubai Aiport because it was at 2000+ feet (had to take off from a balcony to even get that high).

Furthermore, Ministry of Defence representative was present at all Dubai Shoots.

So please don't assume I am someone who doesn't know how to respect and obey the Law.
