I think this spring I am going to build a 16 feet tall (maybe taller)  fight tower that will have a 10 by 10 foot platform on it   this way I will be higher then most trees around me and better line of sight to see the mavic  

I live on 1.7 acre's of land that is zoned GA ( general agriculture) I am not zoned residential

the plan is this :

I will be using used telephone poles with 4 feet deep in the ground

10 by 10 foot platform

Fabric roof  ( to block sun but will not cause problems with the signals)

sides will be screen nylon ( so the bugs don't get to me..lol ) NOT metal screening!

internet access will be there via outside router

as for power I have a car jump pack ( for jump starting cars) that has usb and 12 volt plugs and an 120 inverter

may also have a small tv with hdmi, etc  inputs  with a plastic cover so I can cover it when not in use so it wont get wet

by using wood and fabric and no metal there shouldn't be any problems with signal and it will also help keep the cost down too!

so that's the plan this spring I cant now due to its cold and snow outside

Sounds interesting. Post photos of it when you get it built.

As for your power supply: If you build the tower next to your house then there should be extensions cords that reach that far so you could get power from your house.

You should also think about having something to sit on/in.
And a ladder to reach the top ;)
And maybe some rails so you don't fall down accidentally. ;))
Binoculars would be nice too.

my outside rounter has 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz wifi  soo if the 2.4 cause problems I will turn that off and use the 5 ghz

Since you already plan to place a TV set there, a fridge and a sofa might be a good add on... But now seriously, sounds like a nice plan. The only disadvantage I see is that with this big effort it might trigger you flying always in the same spot.

lol yes!!!  I will have to come up with ways and fight routes so I don't get to bored flying in the same area!

Sounds like an excellent Idea. I like ideas like this. I once almost bought a full size Mig 15 to put on a pole in my Garden. Her indoors did not like that Idea much. Never could see he problem with it

i will

as for telephone poles I put a want ad on craigslist's I had a guy call me so hopefully we will get it worked out

50' high, and 2 bedroom with a wrap around deck to walk around to follow drone.
Then I could also put some antennas on the top for radio...

Yeah this rain sucks. I just want to fly. Good luck with the truck. I bet you get s hell of a range 30 feet up
