When the UAV app says not to fly do you guys not fly or still take the risk?

What's the limit of flying and noyt flying?

I won't fly if the UAV app says that's not safe to fly, but I suppose that everybody has its own limits.

I always check the weather forecast when I plan to fly (wind speed and burst).

That's great, but do you take your home with you when you go flying in another country?

UAV Forecast and Kittyhawk.
I've lost a quad due to my own $$$tupid ignorance.
I fly over ponds, lakes, bays and ocean so I like to double and triple check my limiting factors.

Clear skyies and light winds.

I'm pretty good at feeling the wind blowing and seeing the trees moving. But I've been flying Cessnas for years.

Me too. I look out the patio windows and watch the tops of the tree's out back. Been doing that for all my quads and DJI Drones - now all gone. Never let me down yet. Got a hand held too but that ain't no good when you are 121m in the air....LOL

Set the parameters to the correct values and it's not bad. Sometimes gets it well wrong but a generally solid app. Most I have flown in is 20MPH wind but as a general rule, no stronger than 15MPH as it's always stronger the higher you go.

An app to check the wind is a GREAT IDEA, as long as you live next dor to where the info from the app comes from. It's like getting the temperature announced on the radio and you look at your thermometer and see that it is a 5 or even 10 degrees difference. I use a true, spinning wind guage to spot check what kind of conditions, overall. When I get to the location, if I do not fly near my weather staion, I use an anonometer that rides along in my Mavic or Phantom case. I have been a pilot for 40 years and have used ALL resources to enjoy my hobby, safely. That's the way I do it.

Just out of curiosity how do you check the wind at 300 ft level? Do you use an app?

Faa, flight service.  You check winds aloft weather reports.  I think some of the aviation apps have this feature too

Try the app ‘UAV forecast’.   Under the Wind feature it has forecast for 100, 250, 500 feet.  It actuall has forecast for wind speed and air temp up to 5000 ft.  But I guess we dont need to worry about that

I basically use an Anemometer that I purchased from Amazon for ~$20 that tells me the wind speed and temperature where I am at ground level. Don't usually fly with high wind where I live so whatever the wind speed reads I apply a conservative 5 mph spread to it.

Like I said, wind speed here in Arizona isn't really a concern, it's the Sun's hot high heat that is the element of concern.
