Hi all,

1st post from a fairly new spark owner here, so be gentle .  

I've had the spark a couple of weeks and flown it a couple of times indoors, but yesterday the weather was good and I had the chance to take it for a fly around the local park.  Before leaving home, I scrambled around the junk drawer and was able to find a 64Gig Samsung Evo SD card in there.  

Fast forward to the spark flying and up in the air, I press record to capture some footage.  The video records for about 15 seconds then stops!  So I look at the screen and press rcord on the RC, to see a short message in the top left of the screen telling me that the card isn't fast enough to record 4K!!  

Now I'm quite sure that it correct, as my card is probably a cheap ebay Samsung Evo copy, but what's with the message about 4K as the spark only does 1080p 30fps anyway!?

Obviously it is not a problem, but I'm just curious what everyone else's thoughts are?

Thank you for the reply.  I genuinely did not know the Spark did 4K!!  

Every day is a learning experience!

(FWIW I would rather it do 1080p 24/25fps than 4K!!)

4K? What? with Spark? Since when? version, changelog, settings, reference, documentation, PLEASE!

But can never ever do 4k Video recording.
I have an answer to that also if someone want to know why it can’t do 4k recording then tell me i will explain it.

I believe it records in 4K which is needed for digital video stabilisation leaving a 1080p stabilised result.   That’s what i’ve read anyway..and it makes sense to me

Yes you are right due to 2 axis mechanical gimbal it depends on digital image stabilisation which reduce the footage to 1080p
Coz both camera sensor are same on mavic pro and spark

I read elsewhere that it's 2.7K stabilised to 1080.

I define "record" as save it to SD, hence I believe whatever it reads off the sensor (4K/2.7K) is processed in memory for stabilization. It would not make any sense to record the unstabilized video for further processing.

Yooo let me get this straight... The Spark allows 4k photos, but not 4k videos, right?

How does the Spark record 4K? I thought it was only 1080p?

Woooaaahhh there!!! 4K on the spark? Surely there is some mixup here!! 4k photos, fair enough, but 4k or even 2.7k for IS. Whats that all about!

I'm guessing here but it might explain why output is fixed at 1080p30fps, because the image stabiliser takes the higher res file and outputs stabilised 1080p30fps. This is probably hard coded on a chip to save power consumption and make for more efficient processing.

The Spark will shoot photos at 3968×2976.  It will shoot Imaged Stabilized video at 1080P.  I apologize for the confusion.  I have spent too much time with the Mavic Air over the past few months.

But is it shooting video at a higher resolution and then digitally cropping it to 1080p for stabilization?

Unfortunately, no.  The Air is your best solution for that.
