Got out last week at a new spot to shoot some video of ships coming down the Houston ship channel heading for the Gulf of Mexico.  Pretty happy with the shots even though it was super windy, I was only able to make 15-16mph into the wind in p-mode with OA off, so about a 15mph wind.  Let me know what you think!

The exposure was a little hard to nail down with the fast moving clouds covering and uncovering the ships.  Any suggestions as to how best to deal with the varying light conditions moment to moment.

Your flying gave us all a very nice view of those ships.  Great job.

You did pretty good job turning slowly to minimize the exposure. I usually take the bird up and keep the sun behind the battery. You will have 180 degrees with the same exposure. You can also take multiple short videos and then clean in post.

I did that for the most part, but I guess the cloud shadows moving through the picture threw off the metering.

Nice subject.
There are some exposure changes that are too present.
Hard to avoid those  if you film on auto and the frame changes.

Thanks, I probably should have corrected exposure on those clips individually and then just stuck to the color correction with my adjustment layer.  I've also started shooting in d-log and using a LUT for color correction so hopefully that will give me a bit more flexibility in the future.

Thanks everyone for the comments, the next video I make will be shot in d-log and corrected in post. I’ll keep an eye out for those exposure problems in the future.

The music came from the YouTube audio library, which has a ton of free music that you can download and use in your videos. It’s a great resource since finding royalty free music for YouTube videos can be very difficult.
