Im a newbie in video editing but I know the basics in Premier. Which one should I grow my skills on? I haven't tried Davinci yet but from some comparison videos, Davinci has a nicer UI IMO. I will mainly focus on editing my Spark videos and maybe put a montage together. Any tips and tricks would be appreciated.

Which one do you guys prefer/use? Let me know in the poll.

Voted for the Adobe Premiere.
I got the complete package and I realy love it But of couse its expensive.

I like Davinci Resolve, best when shooting D-LOG and then do a color correction.

I prefer Final Cut Pro X but that's because I'm so used to using it. I hear Premier has good support for plugins which can be important. I perhaps need to give DeVinci another go.

If you have access to Premier Pro it’s better and I would say your imagination is the limit. But it’s very expensive for personal use.
Davinci Resolve is free and a powerful video editor I recently started using it. Please check my videos. Free version is more than enough for editing drones videos.

For complex project ai prefer Premeire Pro.  But for smaller quick project Filmora is quite amazing.

Has anyone tried it?  I stumbled upon it a few weeks ago and have just had great fun making quick videos to shate.

I have tried filmora. It leaves watermark. And it is too basic

Only leaves a watermark if you use the free version.  As far as basic,  that is what I was looking for when I dont want to use Premiere.  There is no need to use a sledgehammer when all you need is a small hammer.  Just saying.

Poll is tied. 8 vs 8. I voted Premier but have actually never used Davinci Resolve.

I can't choose, would like to use both, and preferably the paid version of Davinci.

For Ios best free editing software goes to Luma Fusion

Hitfilm is just great
Had Premiere before and dont' look back - sure its kinda different but has lots of features that Premiere does not (or stinks at them)

Get the free Hitfilm Express Version and you should be fine

If you are really up to the task get "Nuke Studio" from The Foundry  (non Comercial) ;)

There is a free and studio version. The free version has no BS such as water marks, cap export quality etc... The only thing different between the 2 are that the studio version has a tiny bit more transitions and 2 or more people can work on it at once. The free version is very powerful because it has so many features that you wont expect a free software to have.

After trying DaVinci Resolve free for almost two weeks, really like the freedom of creating LUT. Premiere has lots of interesting LUT preset. Hard decision for me...

For personal use there is no reason to go Premiere and waste money, Davinci is a professional tool for free, do I need to say more?

Luma Fusion if you have IOS

DaVinci Resolve is a very serious competitor of Premiere Pro. I used Premiere in the past and now switched solely to DaVinci. DaVinci color grading is superior to Premiere.

On top of that DaVinci is free.

I have HitFilm express. Might try Da Vinci Resolve.

I have not used Premiere for a while, but Resolve is pretty decent for the price ... the free version that is. Hard to beat that.

After trying OpenShot, which is a total desaster (transitions often don't work right, and it is soooo damn slow even on a decent computer), I thought I'd try Davinci Resolve. I was never able to get sound to work, that was disappointing also. I now use ShotCut, which works nicely, and is free and open source.

Both require a lot of 'getting used to'.
I love Sony Vegas better.

Resolve gave me an error message when I tried installing it, and now it just crashes when I try to use it.

This is an old thread resurrected but why compare the monthly subscription Premier with the feature limited Resolve Free?

Compare it with Resolve Studio and my choice is Studio.

One Programme with now world class and movie industry approved possibilities.

If you familar with premiere you can buy cheap premiere elements or pack with photoshop elements for 100$
