I was having a problem with my phantom 2 going into auto land, so I checked for updates and found about five.  I went ahead and did the updates on the phantom including one for the gimbal.  After the update, the gimbal does not work at all and it is not showing up in the list of devices and versions in the assistant.  Is there a way to reset this and start over?

I have this same problem.

Yes you can fix it by shorting the gimbal to reset it. Then load the update again. It took me three times before it took, and I had to short it each time first.
P.S.
the process of shorting the gimbal can be found on this forum, but basically you tack a paperclip and touch two points on the gimbal while you cycle the battery. It WILL work 100%

Subject: H3-3D Reset

So these are the instructions for resetting the H3-3D:

1. connect the 2 dots in the picture attached using tweezers.
2. power on phantom
3. remove tweezers when you see red and yellow LED on together.
4. connect to assistant software to re-upgrade

This should reset the H3-3D and cure the twitching problem.

Just got a chance to try this fix and it worked.  The gimbal was dead and not showing in the assistant but did the reset and it showed up in assistant, did the upgrade again and all is well.  Now I have to figure out the auto land issue.
