First Impressions:
Out of the box, the Mavic Air is a VERY attractive and sleek drone. The new controller is very sleek too, as well as comfortable. (Very similar to the Mavic Pro, which I also own.) The battery isn't the best on flight time (20 minutes), but charging is fast. At first when folding the drone back into its folded position I had some issues, but then I found the proper way to close the propellers. You really need to finesse the placement of propellers as you fold them inward. The carry case is great and the quality is fantastic.
First Flight
The Mavic Air, after updating, took off and flew with ease. My only issue was that it was super windy (20+ mph) and being smaller than the Mavic Pro, it handled a little less easily. It appeared to be a little shaky but only because of the wind. The stabilizer counteracted the wind thankfully. I will need to fly again soon in a more stable location.
Transmission to Controller
When flying close to myself, the transmission to my phone was fine, crystal clear. Although when flying pretty far away the picture on my screen was VERY glitchy, fuzzy and skippy. I do not know why. I will do more tests once I am home to test distance compared to transmission rate. I was disappointed with this as I was not sure how the picture/video was actually being taken.
Note: The Mavic Air has some amazing lowlight capabilities. My videos to come will show this.
