Hi

We are experiencing a very odd issue on our custom drone. It seems to be only since the recent GO firmware updates and IOS update, but im not sure which (if any) are causing the issue. but we are at a loss.

Drone spec;

Hexcopter
N3 - latest firmware
Lightbridge 2 - latest firmware
X3 camera (via matrice mount) - latest OSMO firmware
iPad mini 4 - IOS version 11.2.6
DJI GO - latest version 3.1.28

We had been using the drone without issue for about a year with the above hardware/spec, we have always kept firmware version etc up to date. We notice there has been several version updates to the Go app recently so we update from 3.1.14 to 3.1.28. We also notice iPad IOS update 11.2.6, so we update that too.

We go out for a flight, in the same location we always fly (with no previous problems), everything ok for first 2-3mins, then all of a sudden the drone starts to yaw on its own and the X3 camera goes limp and then starts to spin on its own (back and forth). We have to make controlled landing (whilst it continues to yaw out of control)......

We test agian but with our seconds drone (exaclty the same setup as above) - to eliminate mechanical or hardware issue.... - we make test flight and exactly the same things happens!?

So to eliminate any kind of interference issues, we drive to another open location (just to be sure) and again, where we have flown many times before with no issues.  And again we have the same issue. drone(s) start to yaw on own after short flight and camera goes limp and then starts to spin on its own. We have to make controlled landing.

Im convinsed this is a firmare or IOS compatability issue. We saw a Go app firmware issues before (version 3.1.13)  which caused loads of false errors and unstable flights - DJI sent us a old firmware version to install which resolved the issue until they released a fix (v3.1.14), so we know its happens.

But DJI support are now saying its no longer possible to downgrade DJI GO app firmware - and im not really sure what to do next.

Ive just seen this post https://forum.dji.com/thread-123736-1-1.html and wonder if its related - however we ARE already on latest Apple IOS version

Anyone else having this kind of issue, and ideas what do do next?

Thanks

The bug you are referring to was more in respect to the Go4 App and compatibility issues with the later operating system. That was resolved when Apple updated the operating system. The IOS incompatibility was also the result of the app quitting unexpectedly. Have you done any type of calibration on the Assistant 2 Software? If you do not have that, download that from this link and try to calibrate: https://www.dji.com/n3/info?site ... te_search#downloads

Yes we use Assistant 2 software.

Sorry try to calibrate what exactly? GPS, IMU? All of these are already calibrated. We calibrate GPS at all locations before each flight. IMU is calibrated and looking good.\

I cant think what could cause the drone to behave like this apart from a software/firmware issue?

It cant be hardware/mechanical as we have identical (and very strange) issues on both machines (both of which worked just fine up until now).

If you read my post you will see we have been using the drones for nearly a year with no issues, we are very familiar with the software and how to use them - we are looking for help to the issue we have raised.

Parameter settings would not cause the drone to start yawing for no reason 3minutes into normal flight. It also would not cause the camera to go limp and start spinning at the same time.

Thanks for your input though.

Hi HP, we are sorry for the trouble caused and thanks for bringing this to our attention, the issue will be forwarded to our engineers for analysis, any chance to export the flight log via DJI Assistant 2? If yes, please upload it to Dropbox or Google Driver and share us the link, thanks for your cooperation.
