Ok i accept the fact that my Sony is not compatible for my Mavic Pro, now you must understand that computer jargon does not mean anything to me, I'm 71 years old and setting my clock is a challenge,  rather than changing my sony experia aqua m4 can anyone out there  give me a name and model of a tablet or if i have to a phone that i can purchase,  now some are going to reply that i need a 3 or 4 ram and so on so forth,  that does not tell me anything,  just for example tell me Samsung Galaxy or some other model,  and keep in mind that i am already in the doghouse for buying the Mavic,  so please don't recommend a 500.00 dollar phone or tablet, all I want is something that will work and not send me the message aircraft disconnected.  Thank you and I would appreciate your inputs.

I would look at the iPad mini 4. You can find them refurbished at a good price. you can get away with an iPad mini 2 but the four is better.

From what I have the ipad mini4 is the best, or others having being talking about the Lenovo 7 inch

Ipad mini 4 is a perfect fit. Never had any problems with the DJI GO4 app.  Mine is dedicated to the Mavic.

It is only wifi . Never had the need for the cellular version and it was a lot cheaper.

Just bought two days ago the Asus Zenpad 3 8" (Z581KL), 2 Gb RAM, 16 Gb storage, ( price here in Italy 279 euros ) and works very well with the DJI GO4 and Mavic Pro.
After a long period using my trusty smartphone Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe (5.5" screen), i needed some bigger screen, so after
a long period of evalutation of many models , i've found the perfect tablet to use for my flights, and fits very well to the
PGY-TECH tablet holder for the Mavic RC. And it is WiFi and 3G and 4G (one slot for micro SIM and one for the microSD ).

Yes, I knew there was another reason I liked it; it fits in the controller jaws without needing a mount.

I think that, somewhere along the line, Apple decided to make the GPS antenna available to only those units that were able to use "cellular data". Without "Cellular data" you will not be able to get a map on the screen unless you load it PRIOR to getting out of WiFi range. I had an ipad second generation and used it on boat deliveries for navigation backup. It would work 60 nautical miles off shore well out of reach of cell coverage. I now have an ipad pro and decided I only needed the WiFi version. It will not bring up the map unless I tether it to my iphone. I'm no tech wizard (79) so if anyone has some input about this please feel free to educate me.

ordered the 4,  yes a refurbished one, and now waiting anxiously!

waiting on the I Pad 4, mind you  can't fly these days it's snowing here everyday.

Are you sure you’re downloading the right app? There are several similar but you shouldn’t have any problems downloading DJI GO 4.

I have a ipad mini 2 (works!) but my vote is for the ipad mini 4 since it has slightly more resources.

I see in another thread you have an iPad 4th gen. That might be the reason as I think it needs a 5th gen iPad or later. If you had the mini 4 you’d have been ok.

Never had any issues with my Sony Xperia Z3 tablet. Worked faultlessly every time until I sold the drone last week.

All updates to controller/drone were done via the tablet

I have the 128GB and I use the mini only for the MP.
I not sure if 16 GB is enough. It might be OK  if you use it only for your drone.
Maybe someone can answer you on this better then me.

No need for more than 16 if only for flying! Mine is 16 is a perfect feat, but I have cellular and find it handy to instantly download map thru LTE, never use (yet?) GPS thou

I think DJI GO 4 has a limit of 12 GB for cache and nothing else (besides log files but they are negligible size )
