On a way to Vratsa, I passed again thru Lakatnik kanion and was hoping for better weather, but did not have it quite so. Anyhow I run the Mavic and start filming aiming at communist time monument I never visit before, on a way up I spotted red and white Installation - can You guess what is this? (Not a Bulgarian flag )
Answer - Мартеница (Martenica) - on 1-st of March everybody in Bulgaria giving Martenica's to friends - red and white are mandatory - the rest can vary (as predecessors where valuing pale skin - white, and Red chicks - a sign of health). You wear it for the whole March (or less ) and hang it on a first blossomed tree
Alex This would of been my guess. (No, not really, I looked it up)
Мартеница is a small piece of adornment, made of white and red yarn and usually in the form of two dolls, a male and a female.
The name of the holiday means "Grandma March" in Bulgarian and the holiday and the wearing of Martenitsi are a Bulgarian tradition related to welcoming the spring, which according to Bulgarian folklore begins in March.
More of your videos and I will know Bulgaria like I know my own State. Thanks.
To be honest, it took me by surprise because on adjacent rocks (I did not have time to fly to) there was Bulgarian flag - White, green, red and when I saw that one I was thinking they lost green part - then I realize Biggest Martenica approach
