Here is a video by a YouTube guy that I follow.  He goes through 5 tips on preventing flyaways.  It's worth a watch.  His opening point is that we've all seen lots of postings about flyaway, so we all fear it.  But in actuality, it happens VERY little.  Regardless, he gives some good tips for all of us to follow:

Can you just bullet point them so we don't have to waste 7 minutes on a 20 second read?

So true, people blame the flyaways on the drone and DJI when all along it was pilot error.

He went through very good points..

1- Read the manual, understand when to fly what to do and not to do
2- Do homework about where you are flying "the location", Use the following apps in USA B4U FLy , UK NATS Aus Can I fly there?
and check Wind speed and where you are at and wind speed of different altitude
3- Start-Up Checks
a. check aircraft for damages
b. check props for any damage mainly cracks and splits
c. check batterys on controller, aircraft and the  phone if you use one to control your aircraft
d. make sure battery, props and props guard are secured properly
e. check settings mainly after firmware upgrades
f. take a look around you look for any other drones or planes that will interfere with your signal
g. do not go into the no fly zone.. your drone will go down when it gets close to no fly zone.
change settings depends on the environment "change site change settings"

4. Soft flight: 3m hover and check settings and responses from aircraft to your command
5. keep VLOS "Visual Line Of Sight" the further you get away from the controller the
weaker the signal will be and more chances of interferences.

Dead on. I follow dji support on twitter and feel sorry for them. Easily 95 percent are pilot error. This guy’s rules are mine and have never had an issue nor a close call

Dylan is one of the better drone youtubers out there. No where near as bad as the over excited kids that seem to do so many videos.

After 45 seconds it was enough for me. And I think the average beginner will also drop out. Because he is not interested in tips such as 'read the manual'.

I think that an affordable (online) training for novice drone pilots is a better solution.

Why would anyone waste their time making an online training maunual for people too lazy to read the manual that has already been provided.

I agree 100%. The trouble is, the guy irritates me. I switched off as soon as he started talking. Too many like Casey Dooshbag that make me want to commit mass murder rather than listen a second more. I suppose these guys do it for a living so they can be as obnoxious and annoying as possible and still get likes and subs. I like a good how to vid when I'm stuck or looking for something but......and no, envy is not an issue here. I have a good job, earn good money - Just can't stand the style of presentation.

Nice tips dude! But about the wind blow you were talking about. How will I be prepared if somehow I manage to lose my drone on sight? How will I find it?

I agree.  There was no reason to write some of those negative things.  I just keep a list of people who are like that, and I make sure to never view anything they post nor respond to anything they write.

All I know is that after the first year of subscription (which is free), you get to pay $5 per month. I don't know how much is the device but you could check out their website here: https://trackimo.com/gps-drone-tracker/

Man there's a lot of negative pretentious f×××s out there and I hope you guys become the one's that make 'flyaways' a term. Whah Whah cant you do this better, and, I don't have 7 mins, and then there's the guy that puts his $.02 in about a training video, always a better idea, well get off your ass and do one, I mean at least the guy was actions and I'd feel pretty stupid if I lost my $2,000 investment cuz I couldn't spare 7 mins and then decide if it was useful info or not and if I didn't I'd keep it to myself cuz it's only my opinion and nobody made me watch it, so until you do something better or different, shut up, and btw I did find it helpful.

Thanks for the support.  I keep a list of folks who do crap like that and I just make sure to never watch anything they publish.  For the naysayers here, I suspect the odds are quite high that they also never read the manual, so they'll be losing their quads soon.
