Looks like the car charger for the Air is more "voltage friendly" than the Pro one.
I have been sucessfully charging Air batteries off an 50000mAh power pack that has variable output voltage.
Set the output to 16V - charges well. Draws up to 4.5 A out of the power bank.

On the side, I found a 40,000mAh power bank that also works and can be carried on airplanes. As it is more than 100Wh , but below 160Wh, it can per TSA ( and IATA) carried on with airline aproval. Got emailed aproval from JetBlue, Emirates, FlyDubai. Other airline like Delta have post on their website outlining the 101-160Wh rule.
Also, those power banks just fit into DJI's large battery safe bags - that meets the requirement that Lithium batteries carried on have to be protected of the contacts be shorted

FYI, those power banks work well with the Pro, too.
Just need to get one of those chargers that take 16V ..

I would say it depends :-)

How empty are the batteries  to charge ?

If I would be in the field for a day, I probably would carry 2 small banks - then I can charge 2 batteries the same time.
If I go backpacking, O'd likely carry the bigger one

im curious how you connect the battery charger to it? is there an adapter that allows you to plug in standard wall plugs? i dont see it in the description or in the photos.

the output of the banks is DC, you need a car charger that has 12-16V DC input. Or use an car inverter to use the AC charger - which is waste of energy.

new here and curious too ,how you connect from power bank to car charger?

do you have some link for example?

I beg you pardon.

The power bank has a barrel connector for DC output. then you need a cigarete lighter socket from a car aftermarket store and solder the wires. Or, with the DJI charger, just cut the wires and solder a barrel plug to the wire
No offense meant, but I am not explaining how to solder 2 DC wires to a socket - if you don't know how to do that, better leave it be. I don't want to be responsible if you create a wire or battery fire

I'd say rather than the current a powerbank can supply (which is important) the amount of power it can deliver is more important in order to know how many times or how many batteries you can charge from the given powerbank.

Trick is that manufacturers use to talk about current (mAh) which can be high enough but in a short time you get all powerbank's power exhausted. I'd rather preffer to know the power in Wh of the same before choosing or buying one.

A reasonably good powerbank will be rated for 60 up to 100 Wh power which would give you enough to charge 2 to 3 Air batteries of 27,43 Wh each.
Have in mind a battery can't use 100% of the deliverred power, there are heating processes during charging which means lost, consumed energy too, drained from the same powerbank.

There are various ways depending on your gear.
For instance I use a portable powerbank with jump starter (car battery port). From this one I take 12V  (search on Amazon or others for EC5 car lighter) which you can use either connecting a car charger for your MA battery or, connect it to a 12V DC - AC car inverter and plug in the last one your mains (AC) Mavic Air battery charger. Last way is a bit more complicated and implies loosing some energy on the inverter and AC charger, but still allowed me to charge a couple of Air batteries with a full charge of the powerbank (not a very powerful one - 16800 mAH)

One thing that would be great is to turn off the USB port for charging the controller. That would bring the amp draw down and allow the big banks to be used for charging the flight pack. The controller can be charged from any smaller bank and the controller battery should last way longer than a few batteries

(mAh)*(V)/1000 = (Wh)

the power banks I use, are rated 40000mAh @3.7V, ... 148Wh or 50000mAh @3.7V ... 185Wh. See the links at the beginning of this thread

Yes, we know the formula.
What I'm pretty unsure is these devices can deliver the power you mention 148 and 185 Wh respectively...
You rate them at 3.7 V. Why not at a different tension as they can deliver up to 20V.
For instance in the specs of your 40.000 mAh model, it delivers a maximum 4,7A for 12 to 20V tension. This makes a maximum of 94 Wh which sounds more realistic to me...
I was unable to find nominated rated power in any of your links, it is true, that the more mAh, more power to deliver, but few manufacturers are enough fair to state also the nominated power which is the measure of the amount of energy the powerbank can store (and subsequently transfer), not the current it can deliver.
