After hours of research, I finally ordered my Mavic Air flymore bundle from Ferntech in New Zealand yesterday. Purchasing process turned out to be quite a challenge... Perhaps the fact that I am a South African working in Papua New Guinea using a UK credit card to purchase from a New Zealand based vendor for delivery in Auckland had something to do with it...
However, thanks to the patient and excellent service from the Ferntech guys, my Mavic Air has shipped and it should be delivered tomorrow... so excitement is running high. As this is my first drone experience, I am cautiously optimistic that all the hours of research and video review watching has led me to the right decision..

You are not wrong, it is a fabulous little drone packed with technology. Read the manual and don't rush to get it in the air until you have set it up correctly. My advice is never take to the air until you have heard the app state "Your home point has been recorded please check it on the map"

If you need help this is the place to ask for it, they guys are knowledgeable and more than happy to help. Welcome to the Air Club.

And I'll second what M2 said.  After you've been on this forum for awhile, you'll find that many (most) of the crashes and damage can be traced back to not having really REALLY understood the manual.  Read that puppy a couple of times (preferably more) before taking flight.  Also, really study the "return to home" process, find a VERY open area, and practice that a couple of times.  You don't want your first time doing it to be when you're in a panic.

Read, read, then read some more.  Use the benefit of the people who have made the mistakes before you.  take it slow and always be clearance conscious.  Check the weather, especially the winds, and if it seems too windy to fly it probably is.  Have fun and take your time getting to know the aircraft. Lots of people here who are willing to help you understand how everything works.

Take it slow till you get to know her.
A good indicator is that if you have to stop to think which stick does what, you are still green.
Enjoy, and be safe!!
