I know this topic has come up before... but what are your thoughts... Store in cloud... store on local drive.... burn to DVD's?  What seems to work for you folks.

PS, sorry this pic got added by accident and I can't figure out how to remove it.

I dump all  my media  onto a portable  SSD  and back that up with a cheaper disc drive . The ssd i use is a Samsung T5 which  is amazingly fast and  really robust  which makes it ideal for editing on the move etc .

I dump everything into a 4TB USB drive in a folder named by date. This is the drive I bought from a different eBay sale.

Mine litter every drive I have. MacBook 1TB SSD, auto backup to my 4TB cloud, manual backup all photos and movies to external 2TB portable. iCloud too. I think I may need professional help. Do they still make DVDs?

After nearly twenty years as a pro photographer storage is a huge problem for my successors. We store all of the original files and processed files on a hard drive not SSD, and also burn them to  DVD too. After that the hard drive is backed up to another hard drive, which in turn is kept in a different location just in case. All I can say is so far so good. I tried a large USB drive as suggested by Jeff but after two becoming faulty within a month I rather lost confidence in them. So for the moment I will carry on with the hard drives and DVD for my drone images.

I back up all my files to my home network drive which is a 4TB WD My Cloud  Mirror (2 x 4TB clone drives). At some point though I might need to consider the longer term options.

I store all of my files on my PC hard drive.   I also use a Cloud service and a portable hard drive for continual backup.   So I have three copies at all times.  I have two additional portable Hard Drives for specific files.  The only problem with having so many backup copies stored on portable Hard drives, is that when you edit one file you will still have two unedited copies stored somewhere.  You either have to find those files and edited them, or find them and delete them.  It can be a pain sometimes.

I have build a FreeNAS Linux machine with a hell of a lot hard disks inside for storage.
The unedited media files, finished projects, fotos, ongoing Adobe Premiere Pro projects and proxiefiles is all stored on that NAS server.

I've got an external 2TB HD, but I find more and more I'm using either thumbdrives or like the 64G micro SD Cards for storage. Hmmm

Funny to think my first PC was a Pentium III, 500MHz with a 13gb hard drive.
I wonder how much 4K video that would hold.

Never mind, it couldn't process the data anyway... relax!! ;-)

That's exactly right... I got my Phantom and was all excited ,then found out my old PC editing software can't handle the huge files!  I was blown away at the quality, and not prepared for it.  I have had to tone down my resolution just so I can work with it... I love my phantom.... and someday I will have vids that are worthy of it... just not yet... (sigh)

I knew that would be a concern, so I bought a reasonably priced, fast computer, so glad I did.

I still need a 4K or better monitor. ;-)
