Smith, you can buy the required filter for your camera. Please enter this link for more info.

the 45mm lens is very easy to balance.

put it on, put on the filter and its very very close to being the right balance. a bit of bluetac and a coin will get it exactly even.

if you dont want to go down the route of getting filters that are purpose built.

nope.

i didnt for the inspire 1 and i dont for the inspire 2 either

the balancing ring is probably a more professional approach, but bluetac and a coin works fine too for the 45mm
once you have the filter on the lens its not very far off being balanced in my experience, tho that of course will depend on which filter you use.

in the inspire 1 the balance ended up being back heavy, in the inspire 2, its been very very close to balanced but seems to be a little bit front heavy, again, your milage may vary depending on what filter your using.

im getting the 25mm olympus lens in the next few days too so ill report how that balances as well if your interested.

So you dont use the bal ring kit?

Usually, you need A and B ring to balance your camera. But if your want to buy a filter, you can remove B to maintain the weight. Please ensure that you have the right size and weight.

In the balancing ring screen shot you posted above, could you explain the line directly under the red box:

"Two balancing rings, as illustrated, are required when using the Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm/1.8. When using a filter, remove a balancing ring."

The listing above clearly states the Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm/1.8 only requires one BR-ø46-10 ring.

Thanks!

Hi, the advice in 7# is for 45mm/1.8. If you use 17mm/1.8, please follow the screenshot and it writes balancing ring B is not required. Thanks for your support.
