There is no issue with .300 as far as I can see. I got 16mins in normal flight down to 19%. 18mins till 7%. Range is also good. At 900m distance and 9m high in CE mode range was still good. I had to stand and point the antennes correctly but no lag or errors Forward decend in P mode is nice now. Braking is soft, but better for video.

In sport mode I got 12:30 flight time to 20% but that was a lot of full throttle

Motors feel cooler after the update? Could be the lack of sun today also...

Hmm. Looks like there is some kind of confusion with Android version.
App store said it was updated 23th of March, but the version number is still 4.2.6, not 4.2.8 like DJI announced at the top of this thread:

It's there, but it doesn't act like an update.  It doesn't give you the "Update" button -- it only gives you the "Open" button option, as it would if the app didn't need an update.

An iPhone user here reported the exact same experience in the Apple Store.

The popular work-around I've seen here in the forums, is to delete DJI Go 4 (.26) and reinstall the updated app (.28) -- but I'm not sure if there is a data loss involved with that process?

I've flown 2 or 3 batteries-worth with the newest firmware update but not the app update and everything seemed normal but I do not know if I am putting myself in peril?  I'd like to fly again today but I cannot get an answer on this issue despite having asked 4 different times now.

Are my posts invisible?

Works just fine. I played with it for an entire battery and see no differences with this update.

There was an update in the play store for me. It updated like normal (about 80mb total). Maybe yours did an auto update?

It did not -- but that was yesterday, I'll try it again, thanks!!

EDIT: tried again, no luck.  Just the "Open" button for the app in Google Play.

What could happen if I fly without this update?

Fair enough - when it wouldn't work, i just fired up the phone app, but it didn't say there was any firmware update for the controller - said it was up-to-date (might have updated the previous day?).

I'm pretty sure that this FW update is only for the AC and batteries, not the controller.  Check the release notes, the controller version hasn't changed.

I figure if you fly with the old version of the app, you won't have all the benefits of the update for the air.  The app was upgraded to take the new updates in to effect.  On apple phones you have the option to offload an app without fully deleting it.  When you load it again, the latest version appears.  I'm not sure if this is an option.  You can always sync your records to GO4 and then delete the app, reinstall and then resync...

The "NEW" version of DJI GO 4 in the Play Store is titled 2.8 -- but when you install it, it's 2.6 -- I uninstalled and installed 3 fudging times!!  Noticed also that it's listed in the detailed description section of it's page on Play as 2.6

WTF DJI???

Anyone have a solution?

That's not strictly true as I just checked my controller and it showed up ok in the latest Assistant 2, though I did have awful problems before so just wondering if they fixed it in the latest update.

From the posts both here and in other threads, it's obvious that this is a general problem though.

First install dji assistand 1.0.7
Then install the latest dji assistent 2 and all is working !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Install as administrator have fun

And put iT on a USB 2.0 port sc and remote works fine
Upgrading and douwngrading is both possible greatings David

When I press "read more" under "what's new" and scroll down the google play store shows me version 4.2.6.

Nice!  Thanks for re-verifying all of this.  I had my Mavic Air out this weekend and didn't experience any issues with the newest firmware release.  But I didn't track the battery times so glad you got this information for the rest of us.

Saturday (in NJ) was such a nice day (lots of sun and warm).  Just wanted to get out they're and fly.   

I see the big improvement specially on the live feed and video quality no color shifting.

Thanks to all for sharing their experience. Could we please get clear statement that this new firmware is 100% downgradeable to previous version? Is I can see multiple posts in this thread from persons going to downgrade but not confirmation from anybody if it was successful. Thanks.

Battery life tested. 10 minutes from 100% down to 50% so assume 20 minutes max.

Today I finally I got the DJI Go updated on Android.
Now its version 4.2.8,  23 Mar 2018 in store and on my phone :-)

i have windows 10 and my notebook recognize the RC of my Mavic Air...   the only thing you have to do is to download the 1.2.2.845 version of the DJI Assistant...   it will install the correct driver.... then just upgrade to the newest assistant and you can swap between the MA and the RC without any problem....

I downgraded to .200 with no issues.
